Needtoheal

I was doing so well between a severe one in March to another severe one on 9/28. Built up self-confidence, in between attacks, but now I have to start and build it up all over again! And maybe I am a little panicky over that as well. One step at a time, I guess. Breathe and baby steps. I get so tired of doing this and wish that they would just go away.

I have been reading some self help books for panic attacks and they have been pretty helpful. I am learning that my negative thinking started when I was a young child due to some of my experiences. I can't change the past, but I can change my thinking of the past. I am also going to try to trick my mind into thinking that I am going to be okay. Afterall that is the truth, but when you are having a panic attack or close to it, it is hard to realize that you are fine and it will pass. Thanks for all the responses on here. You are all great.

Red blonde,

Are you ok sweetie? I know how hard panic attacks can be and you think you are always going to feel like this but it will pass. Sending many hugs your way.

AN update on me. Yesterday I felt like I almost couldn't go into work because the panic got so bad. It passed after awhile of being there and I ended up having a decent day considering what I am going through. Now I am ready to conquer another day feeling more confident today. It is a yucky day outside and that normally affects my mood but I am ok. I just want to get through the day without too much trouble and I will be happy.

I can understand this. As, I too also suffer with an anxiety disorder. I had been doing so well for a while, and then...I had for some reason started to have panic attacks again. So, I am also now starting to have to re-build my confidence within myself again as well.

Take care.

Trying.

red blonde... are you OK??

Like I had mentioned I can identify with the panic attacks...

Sometimes if you know that you are having a day in which it is difficult for you to keep NO CONTACT and feel anxious you can take a low dose pill.. Have you been prescribed anything?

There is Lorazepam which is the generic for Ativan..
It works well...And if you take it in advance (or actually when you start to feel anxious... take it.. it will take the edge off and you then will not go into a major attack)

I hope that you are well... Please post when you can ... I'd like an update ...

Thinking of you

red blonde---
it is a day at a time ... small steps and look at what you have accomplished...

Think more about the positive... because if you think negatively then the negative self-talk will lower your self-esteem...You are doing a great job....
Like I said, small steps... even if it has to be minute to minute when you are feeling anxious... then day by day... month by month...
It worked for me... I had to have short term goals to reach in containing the panic attacks...
I learned what triggered them and also how to prevent them from becoming worse...
take care

Currently I am on risperdal for bipolar disorder. I just increased my dosage by 1 mg and have been doing pretty good the last couple of days. My anxiety level has been down but I always take 1 mg of klonopin before work and half of one on my lunch break. Does anyone know if this is a high dosage? It helps relax me and helps me to believing that I am unable to have a panic attack while on the medication. I don't even know if that is true. I have an appointment tom. morning with my psychitrist so I will discuss my issues with him. I am afraid to try something new because of the fear of having bad side effects but with taking the risperdal, I don't get tired after I take it at night, but I can not wake up in the morning. I don't know what the deal is. Even if I sleep for 8 hours, I still feel very very groggy afte taking it. That is the only thing bad about taking this medication. My mood swings have been pretty normal and stable. Hopefully there is something that I can do.
