One recommendation I have, DONT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WEIGH YOURSELF UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE SWING OF THE ROUTINE FOR AT LEAST 10 DAYS! The scale can be extremely discouraging and actually the more you stress about it, the less results you will have. Just have fun and try to enjoy the wonderness of getting in shape and healthy. Yes I said wonderness and no I don't think its a real word. 🙂

hey, I can use a workout buddy too.

I can't "workout" right now because of the pregnancy, BUT, I need to increase my activity level, so I don't gain too much weight and have a hard delivery.

I have been tired lately, so that makes it difficult.

I am already starting to eat better...ie - yogurt, cheese, fruits, veggies and sandwiches made with turkey, lettuce, tomato and whole wheat bread. I also gave up soda pop and increase my water intake.

we can all work together on this.

Rising, I am yours...well we can all be eachothers. Go get em!!! I found out that coke is make with something that is found in motor oil and stopped soda all together. Its really good because in actuality, soda has so much sugar that you keep craving more because sugar leaves this sticky residue on your mouth that makes you more thirsty.By the way, the biggest thing with working out is MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC!!!! If you have the right motivating music, its amazing how pumped you can get so I will tell you my play list for some ideas.

1.) I'm not ready to back down-dixie chicks
2.) I like to move it move it--I have no idea
3.) Slow ride
4.) Unpretty
5.) bittersweet symphony--the verve

Not sure about the other ones but I will check.

robbie,

it is my understanding that only pure water is acceptable for your water intake.

there are many people who will think differently.

but the reasoning is that only pure water cleanses your kidneys...but if it has anything in it, like sweeteners, flavorings or tea or whatever...it has to filter that out first...so it really doesn't give the same purifying/cleansing effect.

I actually CRAVE water once I get in the habit of drinking it.

A little slice of lemon is probably acceptable...a friend of mine LOVES a slice of cucumber in hers, and it's a great diuretic (helps get rid of excess water retention).

Other than that, I am not sure what to suggest...know that most artificial sweeteners are as bad as pure sugar...and your body can have ill effects from that too.

I stopped drinking soda pop and lost 10 lbs in two weeks just from that...but the detoxing was HELL! but so worth it.

those are all EXCELLENT choices...as long as you drink it in ADDITION to your water...not as a substitute.

Also, fruit juices have high natural sugar in it...with NO fiber. So, they aren't as beneficial as real, whole fruit.

BUT STILL better than soda.

I wouldn't have more than one serving/bottle of juice a day...or you will overload on natural sugars.

There are flavored waters, like fruit2o, and vitamin water and such...which may be better than juices in that it has a small amount of artificial sweetener, but added vitamins and minerals...and some taste pretty good.

but none of this counts towards your 10 glasses of water a day.

Work up to your daily allotment...it's hard to jump into drinking that much water each day.

Ok, I am going to give you a bit of cheating advice. Juice has a lot of calories but I love the carbonation of soda so what I do is I fill a glass with about 1/4th a cup of craberry juice, and the rest with club soda. Club soda has no calories but it is carbonated and you have flavor to it. Its really refreshing too.

hey thats a good idea, dont think i'll try it with milk tho. bleh!

is milk ok to drink? flavored milk 🙂

yesterday i did ok. my problem is at night. i over eat.

also right now i have all "bad" food and cant afford to just throw it out.

but i have some good food too. tell me if this is a good lunch...
yogurt, grapes, 1 slice of whole wheat bread. AND in search of a bottle for my water, i decided to dump the coke and put water in the bottle.

i went for my walk yesterday.

im too embarrassed to say what i had for dinner -

ok - i guess i will just have to be embarrassed - if you dont know how can you help me.

after my walk, i had the rest of the salad i had brought for lunch, but i also had a micro lasagna and some ice cream. 🙁

tonight i'm going to better. even if i do have some "bad" food - i dont have to overdo it.

robbie...give yourself credit for doing the stuff you did right.

BRAVO for dumping the coke and putting water in the bottle! smart move.

BRAVO for eating your salad.

So, the ice cream and lasagna weren't so wonderful...but you did good the rest of the day...be proud of THAT step in the right direction.

At night...keep yourself busy...find things to do to keep you out of the kitchen...and make sure you eat enough during the day so that you aren't starving come later in the evening.

If you get a craving...try waiting it out...tell yourself that if you want it still in ten minutes, you will get it...then wait...then tell yourself the same again...repeat until craving goes away. IF IT doesn't...then have it. Sometimes we crave something cuz our body is needing it for some reason.

i have a strange question....

why is it when i drink the same amount of water as other beverages - i have to go to the bathroom more often? thats the thing i hate about drinking water. i feel like im in a constant state of having to "go" 🙁

because water "flushes" your system...it helps rid you of water weight...it also goes thru you fast because the body doesn't have to "process" anything first...like filtering out all the stuff, or absorbing anything from the juice or soda.

It sucks to run to the bathroom alot, but in time, your body does adjust and you end up able to go less often.

but yeah, it's a side effect, BUT a good one...because it means it's flushing all the toxins and garbage out of your sytem...including fat!!! and excess water you may have been retaining.

it's probably not "thirst" you feel, but more a craving for sugar. and in time, that too will go away.

as for how it works...I don't know the actual biology of it...but know that it flushes your body - and takes additional water with it.

when your body is properly hydrated, it releases excess fluid it may have been retaining when you were dehydrated.

soda, tea, juices...etc...will all dehyrate you...they don't hydrate you.

so, once you are properly hydrated, your body kinds of comes out of "survival mode" where it hung onto all fluids...and lets them go.

perhaps if you google it, you may find a better explanation.

I just know it works!

Robbie

Rising is right about retaiing water. When you are not getting enough water, your body will retain water as self-preservation. Also- once you are hydrated, you won't feel as thirsty.

I have excessive thirst, too, but I'm diabetic- you might consider having that checked.

Good luck

ohhhh ok, that makes sense. i was checked for diabetes last year and it came out fine. i really thought i could be because of my lifestyle. was in a way hoping i was becuase i thought it might be the kick in the pants i needed to cut back the sugar. unfortunately, i think because i have a bad lifestyle but im healthy - i went the other way.

but im ready to do something about it now.
