I just don't get it...i started this new job as a counselor and it's been bout 8wks now and i went to work this morning finding out that i needed to have a meeting with the director and administrator...wow...what did i do?what do i need to do?...and a variety of other questions, freaking me out....So i am adressed with issues that are so confussing...I was hired for a specific position, and so far the idea just didn't quite materialize aswell as the plan was, so I am basically being put on noticxe that this isn't qorking....and someother issues like observations that im not busy enough, spend to much time visiting with patients and staff.....blah....blahh...blahhhh...yaddha yaddahhha.........the bottome line is this....i am feeling vulnerable and scared, confussed, frustrated, slightly mentally abused....like a yo-yo ...i do what they want than they say don't do that...so i do that than they say you should have been doing this....YIKES.....I am not clear on anything....I have to work tomorrow and i can't figure out which it is that i am really sposed to be doing....I was clearly told that if i didn't have enough work..than i need to clock out and leave the building...my greatest frustration is i was hired for the weekends....what the hellllll is going on....

that sounds terribl frustrairing hunny. Im sorry that your boss is putting you through this hell. In my opinion it is good to get to know your fellow colleges and to get to know your paitents it helps them feel more confortable with you. It helps them see you as a real person and not just a councler. So is he having you work the week days too? It takes time to get enough clients to fill that work space. He just isnt giving you enough time to get startedd

not enough of anything....i was hired to create a family program for weekends to support family issues at a inpatient tx level....so for sat and sun i get to work with family...than during the week i get to train doing paperwork and work with patients.....now im told to back off on paper work, do not make any counselor decission without pre approval from lead counselor...anything to do with houskeeping and housmanager stuff stay way from...so i feel like any flexability i had yesterday was just taken away..today i am told to not take breaks or hang out with other staff, stay busy or clock out and leave the building, and family counseling stuff neefds to be preauthorized with lead counselor...what the hell am i their for than?

i think what is really happening is they had a good idea with creating a family position and program. however, it's not taking off and im not keeping busy enough so they are having trouble figuring out how to keep me from here...im almost at the 90day mark and am informed that i will be reviewed at that time to see if i'll be a perminate employee.....I am not sure at this time i want to be a perminate employee after today..perhaps i need to take my integrity and self respect and let the lead counselor know what im seeing and how i feel about it.
