my husband is trying to quit smoking and he has these angry out bursts. Does anyone know how I could help my husband get through this difficult time?

Hi Random,

I have found in my past attempts to quit smoking that the "patch" has helped me alot with my irritability and mood swings.

Also long deep breaths, exercise, drinking plenty of water, and chewing gum (or something else to keep his mouth occupied) may also help.

Quitting is hard....I wish him luck.

My mom needed something for her hands to get over her habit of always having something between her fingers....has he tried carrot or celery sticks? Also, for the mouth problem, gum, mints, and believe it or not pretzel sticks can do the trick.

(((RW))) My ex chews tobacco...he quit a few times while we were married, and he was awful during those times. It took a while to get the nicotine out of his system...he chewed lots of gum. It's really hard, but I wish him the best with it. It'll be best for you and your kids if he quits. Hang in there...

Random,

I don't know if this applies where you live but there is a number 1-800-TRY TO STOP that your husband can call and I have heard that he can get free patches.

It's worth a try anyway.
