Dear Robbie2007,

I am knew to this and I am not aware of your story but I do know that no matter who we are, how old we are, what our profession is, NO ONE IS IMMUNED to faling into some very bad circumstances.

No one actually has the answer for anyone else. I think it is more to understand the dynamic of how we fall into this pattern and I tend to believe there is something in our past that made that we never had any clear set bounderies and that we put someone else's well being before our own.

And yet I would say the biggest issue is not actually acknowledging our inner voice that saw the red flags flying and we chose to close our eyes.

I am in no way a therapist, just a 45 year old woman trying to unravel the pattern.

Hang in there.

And 50$/half hour is outragious. I am sure a true certified office psychologist can charge less than that. I pay 60$/70 minutes.

robbie, its not that no one cares! maybe no one knows where you can go.

I used to go to counselors, and out of pocket sliding scale fee was expensive, i didn't have health insureance and was paying $75 for an hour of therapy.

why not check your local phone book and ask for "sliding scale fee's" they may be cheaper.

Or why not attend Coda meetings, they are free and offer good insight.

I was Just Kidding about the no one cares......

i cannot go to a counselor offline. not unless it was on a weekend and i dont think places are open then.

i'm not codependent. i know many people find this site while looking for codependent info but its not just for that.

i have some really deep issues that i have tried to talk about here on occassion, but just cant bring myself to get it all out. i get to a certain point and i cant go any further. i feel like i need a one on one type thing.

robbie2007,

I did not respond because I did not have another website to offer, which is the basis of this thread.

Have you tried your local/county Mental Health Department maybe, since you are looking for one-on-one?

We care!!!!!

It is just that there are limitations here like anywhere else.

(But as far as free, often sage and wise advice goes - this site just can't be beat, IMO.)

Maybe you could also try googling: "message board XYZ issue."

I remember your name from awhile back.....good to see you!!!!

Robbie, the site Terriberry recommends is a religous site.

http://www.newlife.com/article.....asp?id=851

"About Us
New Life's Mission:
TO IDENTIFY AND COMPASSIONATELY RESPOND TO THE NEEDS OF THOSE SEEKING HEALING AND RESTORATION THROUGH GOD'S TRUTH

New Life's Core Values:
CONNECTION, TRUTH, TRANSFORMATION

New Life's Faith Statement:
As a professional organization we set forth the following beliefs, which have been agreed to by the professional and support staff of New Life Ministries. These beliefs are essential to our treatment philosophy and ministry."

also from that link-

"We believe in the importance of marriage. Specifically, that marriage is a covenant relationship between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24), and that a person’s sex (male or female) is determined by God in the womb (Psalm 139:13) and revealed at birth."

and - "We believe that all psychological principles should be thoroughly evaluated through the grid of Scripture, and that Scripture always holds the final authority."

Think that might help?

Well that’s the great thing about recovery, OPTIONS, healing is not a one size fits all.

What works for some doesn’t work for others!!

Robbie I hope you find the avenue that best fits your needs.

Hi Robbie,

I don't know what your issues are, but a site I highly recommend is http://www.RecoveryNation.com Although it is geared for people with sex/love/romance addiction issues, and their partners, a lot of the work has to do with what they call "health-based recovery" and rebuilding your life starting with clarifying your values and boundaries. Very good stuff, and it is not religious. (But people who mention God etc. are free to do so.)

best wishes,
kroika

Robbie, I was in the car when I happened upon your question and I could not answer until this morning. Sweetie, I remember your story and I hate that you are still struggling. The one thing about going to a Christian councelor should you choose that route is the compassion. If you cannot pay they may work with you. Remember religion and Christians are human just like the rest of us some are good and some are bad.

If you bring up your old thread maybe some of us can offer new advice and you know what? You are totally anonymous here. Most of us care about you so if you want to blurt the whole thing out none of us will judge you.

Thanks for the advice everyone. for those who dont know im dealing with an alter-ego. not to say i have MPD. im too aware of the being for that. but still she is there. i just cant get into the full swing of it here tho. im not as anonymous as you think as i was here long before most of you when we could exchange emails. i have since got permission to change my nickname to try and become anonymous again, but those who knew me, know my story so i can only go so far.

i am due to the doctor soon and i think i will ask her to reccommend a counselor.

Hi Robbie!!!!!

I've missed you terribly at the coffeehouse. I wish you'ld stop in sometime and say hi.

I don't have another website that would be better than this, but at the same time I wanted to be sure to say HI and let you know that you are in my thoughts even if I haven't seen you posting.

sending you a few spider silk blankets to keep you safe on your journey to find a counselor you feel comfortable with.

Hey honey. Maybe these specialized links might help you some:

http://www.manyvoicespress.com.....index.html

http://www.sidran.org/

For me, having been diagnosed with DID, I have found over the years that a sense of SAFETY is key!

(What has helped me when the going gets pretty tough - is to think back on times in my life where I felt safe....any circumstance will do.

For me, it was even the times when I was in the hospital and felt that WOW - other folks (nurses and doctors) actually CARE! Other times I revisit the times as a child when I stayed at relatives' home and felt a sense of safety.)

My heart goes out to you sweetheart!
