I need to know how to deal with my mother. First a little backround, she is about to be 60 and single , i am almost 35 married with 3 children. She. And I are generlly very close and spend alot of time together but every once in a while she gets on these tangeants where she acts totally rediculous about everything. Its almost lime she wants to fight. She thinks she can say any hurtfull thing she wants and will openly judge everything about my life. I can usually try to let it go but its the tantrums i need help with. Recently for example, we were out and when i dropped her off at home she stood in front of my car and kicked the bumper ( she thought this was funny somehow) in return i honked the horn, i was also joking with her, it scared her and the kids laughed, no biggie right? But then her switch flipped, she got mad , kicked the car pretty hard and then stomped off into the house without saying bye to the kids. She then wouldnt talk to me for two days. When she did speak to me again it was to ask me to go check on her sick dog while she was at work. (She still thinks i am a stay at home mom so i can do things for her). When i told her I was out and far from her house she started ragging on me about why I was out w. hen i had so much to do at home. Despite her attitude i drove clear back across town to check on her dog. The dog was fine. Once i knew she was home later i asked her how the dog was and she proceeded to get mad at me for stepping in poo and tracking it in her house, which i am certain did not happen. She now wont speak to me yet again because she thinks i have nothing better to do than lie about dog poo. These types of rediculous things happen all the time. It causes me lots of stress and i am sure my husband is sick of it. She and i are the only family each other has besides my inlaws so that adds more stress to the situation.
