What are some of the statements he makes and why do you feel they are abusive?

My husband was verbally abusive, I discoverded I permited it, when I seriously demanded respect, and made him responsible for the consequences, taking action, as really showing I was hurt, he decided to leave me...for my surprise, I feel good, and I discovered the low self esteem this kind of relation gives you. Be firm, demand respect, you dont have to scream, show yourself with actitude!

gyr -
you've already made two huge steps: recognizing the abuse and then asking for help. find someone who will support you in your quest for respect and self love - a qualified counselor (that's who began to help me love myself), a place of worship, a local domestic violence shelter. (yes, verbal abuse is violence. not just against women, but all humankind. it deplenishes our very souls.) remember that this is not dress rehersal. it's your life. and you deserve honest love. you deserve to offer that to yourself. you deserve to know that you are a special, blessed, wonderful, beautiful individual. and to surround yourself with those who uplift you. who agree that you are lovable. please take care of YOU.
