At last, I managed to see my therapist. I've had positive vibes of her. She is filled with empathy, kindness and understanding.

We discussed so many topics such as: PTSD. She mentioned to me the symptoms such as: anxiety, nightmares, avoidance, flashback, panic attacks, hypervigilance, depression.

I told her I only suffer from: Hypervigilance, and avoidance when there is someone or something that brings triggers of the abuse.

Our encounter only lasted one hour during which she asked me to write 2/3 pages about my feelings. She said feelings are feelings. Nothing is negative. For example, saying: I am angry today is not negative. It's just a feeling and said it was quite healthy to let our emotions get out and never suppress them.

She really made sense to me every thing she said. We also covered abuse at the workplace. She said, when I'm abused at work, I should report it to the right people.

I also mentioned to her the incident about that imposing grandiose woman at church and how I got negative vibes from her. She said that I was justified and should follow my heart. I told her about the suggestions which was given to me here. She agreed to them.

She gave me the date for our next appointment within one month.

That's about it!

Rasputin,

That's great news. A good therapist can really get you through some rough times. Sometimes just knowing I have an appointment coming up helps keep me going. Sometimes sessions can get hard, but if you trust someone, you will stick with it.

hugs,
ella

Ras, I was actually thinking baout you and wondering how it all went. I am so glad it went well. Sounds like she knows what she is talking about and actually understands a lot about abuse. I wish you all the best. I hope the good vibes with her continue 🙂

Ras,

So glad that you found a therapist that gels with you - I am so happy for you.

Also sounds like you covered alot of ground in just one session - that says alot!!!!!

It must be so helpful to find a therapist who gets right down to the nitty-gritty from the start.

Please do keep us posted!

(Also, just out of curiosity - what kind of a therapist is this? A social worker, psychologist, psychiatrist?)

Thanks folks for your love and support!!!{{{{AAC}}}}}

Yes, TBT, she is a social worker. I don't think I need a psychologist. She seems to be smart enough and this medical centre is in my area. She also seems to know a lot about the subject of abuse and I even felt that I wish I could have contacted her even b4. I discovered so many things from her, esp with regard to abuse at work.

It is Always GOOD to speak wtih a professional. I highly recommend every one. Find someone you click with. Go for it. It is worth every moment!!!
