Here are the facts:

-I just graduated college with a degree in psychology.
-I am 25 years old.
-I am 20 grand in debt from my school loans.
-I have about another 6 grand in debt from cc bills.
-I am working two jobs and start training for orientation for another on Sunday at a salon which I am not at all thrilled about- because I don't jive well the way I do at my summer theater teaching job, and my resturant job.
-I have an internship with the student life and development program at my previous college
-I am taking an acting class as well- because I promised I get back into it once school was done (its my passion)
-I just got out of an aweful relationship of 2 years with an addict

My feelings, pros, & cons: I need to save money, if I am home they won't make me pay rent, I will be able to get a gym membership again because I can afford it, I can get in contact with my old agent and get gigs up there, I can get my masters- or teaching credential there, huge supportive network there, I can get cousiling there for free- bcuz my parents will probably pay for it, I need therapy after this last relationship it screwed me up, I wont have to pay for food, I might even be able to go on a vacation once in a while. I can put a physical barrier between me and my ex- even if I dont need one its nice to be geographically further (helps to move on faster), my cat is at my parents and shes like my kid, I have a lot of mentors up north. My grandmas are getting old and I would get to spend more time with them, make them feel special.

Cons: Here I am closer to the entertainment industry, I'm living with my best friend and I hate to up and go on her like that when I've only been here since may, she seems pretty upset about it, her parents pay her rent for her, I pay my rent and my bills and I still don't have enough money, I have some great friends here, my mom is in menopause and gets pissy like a 14 yr girl, the whether is warmer here.

I WANA GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont want to feel like a whimp though either- should I just suck it up and be unhappy for the next 9 months b4 the lease is up- or do I not waste a moment and go back to start saving money and regrouping now before I head off on my next journey?

Hi Rubytuezday

Welcome to AAC. I'm glad you are here.

Do you have to make this decision this week?

I understand why you are torn, but if you are emotional right now, it might be good to wait a couple weeks and see if your perspective is the same. If it changes, then it could be hormonal.

If you move home, how long do you plan to get financial support from your parents? Did you sign a lease with your friend where she is needing you to pay your part of it?

ruby: I'm a huge fan of Suze Orman- do you ever watch her shows? She gives great advice.

She always has a segment about "Can I Afford It" and usually if someone has a large amount of debt she advocates paying down the credit card debt and also having an 8 month emergency fund.

I'm willing to bet she would say to move home so that you can save money and apy down your debt before you do anything else.

She has a website and her shows are shown (at least here) on Saturday nights.

Check it out.

ruby,

As chelonian said let the hormones settle before making any decisions right now.

And as sdesigns said, doing the smart thing for ourselves when it comes to money is key to forever happiness instead of the today kind of happiness.

I think you have allot of cons in favor of moving back home compared to only a few pros in staying where you are.

So many of us codies have made decisions based on a feeling of obligation or guilt. Your roommates parents pay her rent so she is not in the same situation as you are financially so you really are not leaving her high and dry and unless you have some kind of a legally signed lease with her you are not obligated to stay until HER lease expires.

Hey hun,

Do what you really think and feel is best.

Sometimes it is just a good idea to chew on it and sleep on it for awhile.

Honestly, deep down we pretty much have the answers to our own questions - you know?

DEEP DOWN.

Just a matter of really tapping into it is all.

(I'll tell you somethin what - ain't much in life that you can really count on, to be sure.....but them gut feelings deep down inside of all of us - they just don't lie.)

They just don't.

Just have to give them a little leadway and avenue for expression is all - you follow me?

I sincerely feel that we are meant to be all that can be - right now, this very second.

Just takes a little bit of moxie and hudspah to tap into it is all - you know?

That's all.
