NEW YORK, Oct 25 (Reuters Health) -- Anyone who has ever taken tranquilizers such as
Valium (diazepam) knows that in addition to helping to reduce anxiety, they may also cause
some people to feel sleepy, clumsy, and fuzzy-minded. Researchers in Switzerland report
that it may be possible to change the chemical make-up of these drugs, resulting in new
medications that reduce anxiety without causing such side effects.
