Has Anyone ever taken prozac or is currently on it? Well I have been taking it for about 7 months and I have noticed that my short term memory is not as sharp as it was. I keep forgetting a lot of stuff. My long term memory has seem to been effected also. And this may sound stupid, but I feel dumb now. Its like I don't know what to say anymore? Help.....!

Sorry I can't help with the medical perspective on this subject, but I'd like to add to yours.

During pregnancy I recall losing my short term memory. It wasn't too bad and I seemed to have bounced back, that was until the second pregnancy, it became terrible and now two years later I'm still dumb founded at how I could forget where I placed something just minutes ago or how could I forget where I was going to get what within the house. I can laugh about it, but it can also be frustrating.
Is there any over the counter vitamin or med that I could try to see if it will sharpen me up a bit.
Sometimes I feel like going.....DAH!!! What are you doing!!!
Sorry I couldn't help Jaskid.

daizy,

I don't have much information, but I do know that women secrete a hormone during pregnancy which MAKES THEM FORGET! The hormone is a natural one which is supposed to erase the memory of the pain associated with childbirth.

So the pain is real, but most women forget how painful soon after due to the release of the hormone.

Jaskid,

The thing to do is talk with the psychiatrist or doctor who is prescribing the Prozac.

Let us know how it turns out.

Jaskid,
I have heard of this alot and experience it myself. Actually, I talked this over with my grandmother when it first started bothering me and she said the same thing that the sc said. She also said that she thinks women have it more often because (in her opinion) women are more stressed and trying to live up to everyone else's expectations. Has there been anything else going on that would cause this? I just turned 30 and I know that memory loss can be very confusing. If you do hear of anything that is PROVEN to help with this, please let me know. Best wishes...gal

Hi Jaskid I'm on Prozac 60mg in the morning and yes I find my memory a bit funny at times, but everyone experiences different side effects, Please see your doctor and let me know how you get on.
