How do I make my husband understand that the love that a codependent person longs for is not lust. We have just started seeing each other again after a break up due to me having an affair. It was not lust it was just needing someone to understand. please help me to help him understand what it is to be codependant.

Hi Mom,

There was a book on that very topic out. Let me look around and see if I can locate the name of the title.

Are you guys in counseling for this?

Z.

smom,

Tried ( and suceeded !) explaining this to an X-partner by explaining how I felt I was caught in an addictive pattern. The person/thing I became involved with didn't really matter and I asked him to try and think of occasions when he had seen me obsess/have crushes on people. Then I asked him if he ehought that the person mattered and he actually said no.
He is one of my best friends today, so for me talking him through it did work.
I found that by being very clear about it having very little (if anything) to do with him he somehow seem to understand without taking it to heart.

Althea
