oh GG that will be comforting and a great reminder. And why feel guilty-that's your present to yourself.

and why feel selfish GG?! I bought a shirt that says, *Love Life* on it : )

Mich I don't know if you had to leave again or are typing, but please fill us in with the info when Jim returns your email. You have Ma (and family) praying for you as well as many others here. It will all work out - It is wonderful now that you have Jim in your life and some *hope* that there are options for you. It will all work out just the way it is meant to happen and things will fall into place. It's now just waiting for answers, waiting for what is the next step....

oh but I have always done the same thing...never purchased stuff for me (felt guilty- think that is part of the codependency stuff). HOWEVER in the last couple of years there are a few things I have to have that are like meds to me (things that make me feel good) and now I WON’T go without…guess they fall into the category of *self soothe* (mental health talk)…and that is my favorite body washes, perfume, lotions and getting my hair done every 3 months : ) sounds silly and maybe vain (?) but those few things truly are like meds to me, things that I find comforting.

So GG buying a watch because it is going to give your comfort is just like taking a med...we need to do stuff like that for ourselves.

Hope you both have a wonderful day in the midst of going to appts...answers, answers are always good. Blessings to both of you.

Hello All,

I'm late, as usual!!

GG, I think that your buying a watch is great. We all have to treat ourselves occasionally. I do retail therapy once or twice a year. I also buy myself Christmas and birthday presents. At least I'll get one gift I like!!

I like spoiling me occasionally. as L'Oreal says, "I'm worth it!"

LL, that's not self soothing, that's self-nurturing!! I like the idea of getting your hair done every three months. I used to do that and will start again next year.

Mich, you sound like you are swamped with appointments. Please let us know when Jim responds to your e-mail. Are you worried that your husband can't take care of the kids?

I am glad you are getting more information about the residential care options. I hope they are treatment based and not just medication.

I'm sorry I'm not around much. Work is hectic and I've a meeting in 45 minutes. I'll check in on you before I leave for the day.

((((GG, LL, Mich, Ma Strong))))

Regards,
Cyndra

PS I don't remember who made the comment about the afghan, but thanks! I used it to take naps on the sofa.

SO my morning appointment sucked....will explain later. Cyndra..if you want to know the rest of my story, we said it was in liberation threads. That would explain a lot to you as well I think. I slept better with your afghan thanks...

I will check back in after my sons appointment this afternoon, with any luck it will go better than the eye apoointment my daughter had this morning. You all may be wondering how bad an eye appointment can really go, but trust me...as bad as they can go, hers did.

I am VERY nervous about what they told us. Will talk to you all later.

GG, glad to hear about the fence. It is a shame how people were so opportunitsic during the hurricanes!!! That just burns me.

Mich, I did read it. I can see what you have survived and still you stayed strong. I think that you are emotionally and mentally overloaded from staying strong during so much adversity. Your mind and emotions need a break. They need to heal. Okay, I'm repeating myself.

After reading your story I am even more certain that you are an AMAZING woman. You are stronger than you know. I am glad you have Jim.

I'm sorry your daughter's eye appointment didn't go well.

I'll be checking on everyone's updates this evening.

Regards,
Cyndra

alrighty my update:

Waiting to hear Mich's & GG's updates, got some good rest in, turned the ringer off on phone (so no convo's with ex), and funny as I'm writing this right now after turning the phone back on- it rings and its ex!). Anyhow...I'll be online and will check in...

And Cyndra that is a good point about self nuturing as that fits as well (regarding my spendy habits)... it's called taking care of me really. And totally agree with what you said about Mich - and even if this repeating it, it's worth it to say it once again...

"I can see what you have survived and still you stayed strong. I think that you are emotionally and mentally overloaded from staying strong during so much adversity." And what is going on right now is..."Your mind and emotions need a break. They need to heal."

Hello Everyone,

I just got mom and her puppy off to puppy pre-k. What made a 66 year old woman get a puppy?!!

My day is okay. I had been meaning to let everyone know something funny. Okay, not funny ha-ha, but funny ah-ha.

I had a session with my therapist and she told me that my xso is a user. I said, yes he is. She said that he probably never intended to work as long as he could find someone to take care of him. Currently he lives in a house that his elderly (over 70) parents are paying the mortgage on. She said he also used me. I have to admit, he did. I either gave him money, paid a bill for him, or paid for him to travel to see friends. Yeah, I was a sucker.

Not beating myself up about it. I told her that the next time I wanted to "fix" someone I'd run to Home Depot and pick up a project there. At least I'll get to keep that one. LOL

GG, I'm waiting to hear about your appointment.

LL and Mich, I'll check on you ladies later.

Regards,
Cyndra

ok Mich - meet you there and GG I'll check your thread for your update..

and Cyndra, that is pretty funny as in my past (now have turned over a new leaf in that department) I've been a *project "men"* person my self : ) NO more projects like that anymore for me- just doesn't work - so we might as well put those energy's into something productive, huh?
