I thought this may be a good idea?

To the codependent who still suffers, here are a list of books I found to really help. I know that in the beginning I wanted to really know it all, or try to. These books I am going to list are a years compilation (sp?). There are the product of two independent therapists, Codependents anonymous, etc. Also, for me, I needed to know what happened and why. I really worried that my ex. was sick too. My old group for that matter. I didn't want to be the only one. Fortunately, there is one universal answer for this. You screwed, so are all of them. Birds of a feather flock together! Thats as far as the friends go. It is ESPECIALLY true for our mates. Codependents attract, EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME, other codpendents. Its just the way it is. SO whether your curious about you, your friends, mates, whatever, your all in the same shit pile. WIth that said, here goes:

First book should be the Codependents Handbook! It is published by themselves, in Phoenix Arizona. (The birthplace of Coda) PO Box 33577, Phoenix, Az. 85067-3577, ph. 602-277-7991. There is a workbook, sole and seperate from this book that is GREAT to work through. It is called "The 12 Steps, A Way Out, by RPI Publishing, Inc. ph. 360-245-3386, email [email protected]. This is a 12 step program, and it works each of the steps.

I would recommend these two books ONLY after you have a handle on what codependency is, etc.

To do that, I would recommend you read Codependent No More, by Melanie Beattie. She has other books as well: Beyond Codependency: And getting better all the time, and Codependents guide to the twelve steps.

Also, another pioneer in this area is Pia Mellody. She has a book that also has a seperate workbook. It is called "Facing Codependency".

Other books I thought were great was:

Stage II Relationships, by Ernie Larsen, The Knight in Rusty Armor by Robert Fisher, the 12 stpes to self parenting by Patricia A. O'Gorman and Philip Oliver-Diaz, Is it Love or Addiction by Brenda Schaffer, Love is a Choice by Dr. Robert Hemfelt, Dr. Frank Minirth, and Dr. Paul Meier.

I am sure there are others, and would ask that we keep this thread for a list of books only. Title, authors name, and maybe a little description of its contents.

Sound good?

I thought YOU meant books only.

Janes,

Oh. I'm such a bone-head. Didn't know what you meant. That sounds like a great idea! Anything that would help us help ourselves.
