You get a bench warrent, so if a cop ever runs your name you get arrested and they keep you until you pay a fine and then release you with the understanding that you will come in. There are a lot of things you can't do if you have a warrent, and a lot of things (jobs, insurance complanies, etc) will check. NOt all, but a healthy ammount.

You can be charged with contempt of court for not obeying a court's order.
