I have a problem with my landlorder. He came into my apartment without my knowledge a few weeks ago. I was sleeping in my bedroom in the afternoon.

I got a notice from him today at the door. He said he will be here this Friday to clean my air conditioning filters. I checked my air conditioners and the filters are easy to clean. I could do cleaning by myself. It is a simple cleaning. I dont have any problems in my apartment. Why I have to let him to do air conditioning filters cleaning?

I feel violated by him for a few weeks ago. I do not want him come back inside of my apartment. I am suspecting that he is checking on me for my father. My father is known as a controlling person. He would call people to check on me without my knowledge. My landlorder seems like he is willing to do something for my father to check inside of my apartment. I have no history of drug and alcohol history. I never been in the jail before. I wouldn't be surprised that my father wants to know ever detail about my life. I am going to be 32 years old in a few months. How I can make him stoping do the things behind my back?

Today, I feel frustrated. I've started to look for an apartment. I would like to live at the apartment complex that the manager wouldnt tell anyone about my personal life. My current landlorder is a private landlorder. I think I should stop having private landlorders because my father would make access to get in touch with them.

Any suggestions? I think I should move into an apartment complex that I can have more tentant rights and protect my personal, private life. My father should learn how to talk to me like I am 31 years old. If he is worried, so he should talk to me instead of my landlorder.

Check online for the laws concerning entering a rented unit for your state/country. In most of the states I've rented in the landlord has to give between 24-48 hours notice to the current tenents unless there is something in the contract stating otherwise. You may be covered legally and could take action against him depending on rules of your city/county/state/country

You have every right to privacy and a seperate life from your father. This creepy landlord has no business in your business.

Chelonia has nailed it. In most countries (certainly in America), your landlord's actions would be illegal...something for which he could be prosecuted.

Definitely find out the laws in your country/city, etc. Usually, a simple call to the Police Dept. can give you the tenant rights you need to hear.

Then, enforce them with this man in writing. IN WRITING. And begin looking for another place to live, if you believe your father is "stalking" you, via private landlords.

Jaguar, Ma Strong and all AAC folks,

You are invited to an open house on the Coffeehouse thread.

We are inviting all ACC members to join us at the coffeehouse this weekend. The Coffeehouse thread is a unique cyber-place to find acceptance and unconditional friendship. A place where anything is possible because everyone who posts contributes to creating this special refuge for everyone to visit and take a moment away from the stresses of our lives. Everyone is encouraged to add to it, all you have to do is stop by and post whatever you want. The only request is that the Coffeehouse be kept a positive and accepting place. Many people write about/create a comfy place or bring a favorite dessert, meal or beverage to share. Sometimes people will share a favorite story or describe a place they would like to visit or have traveled to.

In recent weeks there have only been a few of us posting. This thread is for everyone to enjoy, which is why we are inviting you. We hope to see you there.
