Ladyace: Love of my life in the hospital

Hi everyone.

The love of my life is in the hospital.

It started with him having bronchitis about a month ago, but a few days ago it felt like it was coming back. Then he was having chest pains and trouble breathing so his Dr told him to go to the ER. He was admitted Wednesday. They are pretty sure he has pnuemonia, and that could be the cause of all the other problems he is having. They are running all kinds of tests, and one showed that his heart isn't pumping right (could be the pneumonia). At one point they were going to do a cardiac catherization, but they decided not too. He was transferred to Cardiac ICU just today around dinner time so they could keep a better eye on him, and be able to run all the cardiac tests right there. In ICU, he has his own nurse to take care of him.

He does seem to be doing a little better in the ICU. I'm going back again today to be with him. His parents and I have been there the whole time.

Everyone at the hospital has been really nice, and he seems to be getting excellent care.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, Ladyace

May God watch over your loveone, ladyace.

As a victim of past bronchitis myself, it's something that need prompt medical attention. One will not recover by staying home in bed waiting to get better.
Medication is very important in the early stages.

BTW, men like fruit, not flowers while in the hospital. (wink)

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

My dear should be moving out of the ICU and into a regular room today. He was looking so much better yesterday. He ate 3 meals and was even able to sit up in a chair for awhile. His coloring looks a lot better plus he has his sense of humor and personality back.

They still do not know what caused all this. The bottom line is they think it was some kind of nasty virus that attacked all the different organs in the body. He was tested for just about every virus out there and once they took about 9 vials of blood out of him! They asked both of us if we were out of the country at all or if we were around anyone who was sick with a disease. Even the CDC came in to ask questions! The only conclusion we came to was that he caught it at school, because that is the only place he has been that I haven't been (since I probably would have caught it too!)

Thanks again, Ladyace

Update here..

My dear is still in the hospital, but I will be going back to work Tuesday. His Mom is able to stay with him during the day, and I will go over after work.

He was moved from the ICU to a cardiac SDU on Sunday. He was finally eating 3 meals and able to get up and walk around. He looks perfectly fine, but he is still having heart problems (that you can't see).

He finally got a diagnosis - Myocarditis caused by a viral infection. When I googled the word, it describes him to a tee. Basically the virus attacked his heart muscles and areas around the heart. The normal blood flow is supposed to be like 50-60% and his is only 10%. His blood pressure is also sky high - like 140/114.

They are going to do the cardiac catherization this week and he may even end up getting a pacemaker. He will probably be on bed rest for about 6 months while the heart heals. The unfortunate thing is that he will have to take a medical LOA from school and not be able to graduate in August. 🙁 This also postpones engagement and wedding plans too. 🙁

Thanks again to everyone for their thoughts and prayers!

I'll keep you posted.
Love to all Ladyace
