Hi Karin,
You are a wonderful person to me. really!!! You are indeed a very independent woman to me.Yes, you should re-take up the arobic. You will feel much better and regain some confidence. Most importantly it is very de-stressing.And you will be more ready to challenge the future! ( like I am preparing now ).life is so unpreditable right? anyway i hope to hear more good news from you.

Hi all...I made it through finals. Have off for a few weeks. Hope to enjoy the time and maybe get to sit with my children(haven't done that in a long while).

Lost Soul, you should try training with free weights, too! It's amazing the results you get along with an increase in strength. It's also good for bone growth. The metabolism stays higher for a longer period of time, as well. Gosh, do it all. But not so much that you forget about us here.

So, where am I? My school work is done. Have not done one bit of shopping. No money and no desire to go out THERE! And my BF is doing his vanishing act again. I will survive, tho'. My studies are helping me understand that sometimes behavior of others is not directed towards me, but is merely how they deal with their stuff. As long as I work on changing my negative self talk I will keep moving forward...

Lost Soul,

Free weights are what Arnold Schwartzenegger uses to get soooo punped up. They come in various sizes, from 5 pounds up to .....HEAVY. When you build muscle you displace fat and the body begins to function better. It can be wonderful and is great for the self-esteem! When you start to sculpt the contours of your frame it gives you a whole new perspective on yourself. I think it is neat for women to look strong...because then you feel strong and behave STRONG! It's possible to take care of yourself and still be a woman.
I'm studying counseling--believe it or not. Maybe that way I can get help for myself and not have to pay anyone else!!! heehee

Hi kitten
yes, we use weights in our NB ( new body ) class.Wao,counseling! sounds interesting.I think providing others counseling does induces some positive thoughts in oneself. Am i right? but I think as a cousellor, one must not put in too much personal feeling and experience into it. Am I right? Once I have seen a counselor. ( Only once ) she is very young, I think she is not married. she seems unable to provide me any " convincing" counselling section.Thats the only time that i been to a counsellor. But at this site, I received many valuable counselling from you guys.At the same time, I am also able to provide some counselling ( personal basic knowledge ) to others. Its a great feeling that you are able to provide some "answer" or "encouragement" to those who needs it. right?

Yes, the basic premise of counseling is: the client has the solution to their own problem(s). The counselor, by being understanding, accepting, and giving unconditional regard, will be able to walk in the client's shoes and perhaps be able to see things the client never saw. The therapist is supposed to suspend all their beliefs, values, and judgements at the door and be WITH the client. I've had some really good sessions with my clients...hopefully that will continue. I must say, I've had some bad session with my own therapists. Many are too involved with their own egos, problems, etc. to really understand another's sense of helplessness and struggle. It is a good idea to keep looking for a better therapist--they are out there and can be of great benefit.

Are you going to try using weights? It's fun--keeps me going. I am impressed that you do aerobics...I can't do it. I have two left feet...look like a goof.

Bel,

I have noticed when I am not working out all the time I am very depressed. They say you release all sorts of brain chemicals when your body is at it's peak performance. I also teach a class of older women at school. We go into a weight room with the jocks and pump a little iron. So far this semester, we only meet once a week, but they all seem to like it and we will be meeting three times a week come January. They all seem to have forgotten they had sensuous bodies, but with the new found attention they've been paying to themselves, they are getting back in touch with their femininity. I also give them little homework assignments to do each week: taking warm baths by candlelight, trying scented oils on their skin, or just standing in front of the mirror and touching each of the muscles in their arms, legs, and backside. I'm sorry, Bel, I'm rambling but, I enjoy teaching others how to work out and find that hidden/ignored strength.

I don't know where you live, but around here, there are lots of private gyms. There is also the YMCA, which has reduced rates for individuals. Either of those places have trainers who can show you a routine that is easy to stick to and will give you good results, pretty quickly. If you do it on a regular basis, five times a week, you will see a change in your body by about eight-ten weeks. Try it, you'll like it!!!

Hi Kitten,

Thank You for your response, I will look into some of those programs. I did go out and buy a bike now to use it! As soon as the weather turns a bit warmer I do intend to use the bike, I was also watching a program this morning before work, they were discussing how not to gain weight while attending social gathering that have lots of food! One idea that will help me is instead of serving myself with the big serving spoon use a teaspoon and you can sample all that you like only in smaller portions. Its not much but its a start!...I did go on a diet last year and lost almost 50 pounds so I know I can do it, just have to motivate myself again and yes I felt so good and I noticed that I did not have so many aches and pains with alot of that weight gone.

Things are pretty good for me right now except that my stepfather had a stroke last week and things don't look good for him. He cannot move his left side, he cannot talk anymore and his eyesight is very bad due to diabeats (spelled wrong sorry). He is a good man and has been a good stepfather, we are there for him but don't know how or if he will recover, he has alot against him, all he can do right now is squeeze our hand, and lately he has not even been waking up at all.

That's it for now talk to you later and Take Care

Always
Bel

Bel,

Sorry to hear about your stepfather...we are all here saying our prayers for you.

As for the diet thing...that is a good idea. I have learned the best way to loose weight is not to think so hard about it. Everything in moderation, increase the exercize, and don't fret so much about the weight. The slower the better, too. I used to be a true gormande...but since I started working out and investing in my health, my obsession with food is gone.
And I'm a very good cook, too. No, I eat to survive and that is all. Food is fuel, nothing else. If your body is going to work at optimum levels, you have to put in the best petrol there is!!! Go for it.....

How was everyone's Christmas? Mine was a bit out of sorts, but I had my children with me--all healthy and happy. Guess it's just hard to stop believing in the idea of Christmas miracles...still thought I'd come down and there would be something under the tree for me. I really thought Santa would stop at our house this year! Maybe next year.

Lost soul,

It's good to see you're rebirth! I like the idea of
a new soul. A clean slate, eh? You can start all over.

I hope you and everyone else has a wonderful New Years
Eve. A time for wishing...and making dreams come true!
