Honey, 1st how old are you? Make-up is not necessary.

Maybe skin care is all what you need, like applying some cream over your skin and lipbalm and hand cream to keep your skin from getting chapped and parched.

Your sweet rainbow smile is the best make-up you can have.

I only apply minimal invisible natural make up and I am an adult.

jigsaw,

I'll bet you are plenty pretty without make up. Personally, I do not like eye liner or eye shadow. I think it makes a woman look uglier, to be honest, and I'm a guy.

Is somebody telling you that you should wear makeup?

Hi Jigsy,

I agree with the others that make-up is not necessary. I know there is some pressure out there for young girls to wear make-up but I think that women (and young ladies) look prettier without it. Especially if they use too much...it doesn't look real.

Like Ras and Camer said....maybe try some moisterizer on your face and some flavored lip gloss. I bet you'll look like a million bucks!

Love,
Lolli POP

Yes I agree with all others. Lolli gave you a "gem answer!"

Honey you're only 12 years. My God at that age I was a blind shy cat. You are just beautiful & pretty the way you are. There is no need to feel insecure.

Just buy a fragranced hand & body lotion + lip balm with your favorite flavor and you will be a "Princess."

(((Jigs))) I honestly love you just the way you are! XOXOXO

Jigs:

If you really want to start wearing makeup then start really simple.

Mascara... start with a clear color so you can practice putting it on w/o having brown dots all around your eyes.

Eye Shadow... use a very light blue or pink or lavendar or tan. Those colors will go beautifully w/ your eyes. Again, you want to start w/ barely and then work your way up.

Rouge... (might have spelled that wrong.) Only very lightly on your cheek bones. Get a color that is only 1 shade darker than your skin and then lightly dust your cheekbone in an outward motion.

Lipstick... I'd just use chapstick. They have some that let our lips shine. If you must have lipstick then only a color a shade darker than your lips or the same. But Chapstick would still be best coz it helps protect your lips from the elements of weather.

Eyeliner... Throw it in the trash. It only makes your eyes look deep and dark unless your know what you are doing well.

Foundation... Throw it in the trash. It will clog your pores in you face and cause you to have zits or pimples. You don't want to start getting those until time doesn't allow you to not.

I think it would be a great idea if you asked your mom or your gramma to help you honey. Makeup is not something you just pick up and do. You need to be taught correctly and know things about it.

Ya know... this might even be something that will help you and gramma to be closer. If gramma doesn't want to help then ask mom. Maybe mom in the first place.

It is so wonderful to start growing up into a beautiful young lady. Honey you are gonna need mom and gramma to help you if they will. If they won't or anyway you still have us here, but one on one, someone there w/ you is truly best.

Here for you as always chickie. 🙂

Oh, thought of something else. Only hypogenic and natural products like Mary Kay. Does anyone else know of hypogenic and natural brands? I only know of the one.

jigsaw...

my daughter is 12, and she will be 13 on Halloween 🙂

She doesn't wear makeup, and most of her friends only wear a little.

If you really want to, I would start with a little lip gloss, and maybe some mascara and a little blush for your cheeks. Sometimes my daughter curls her eyelashes and wears a little lip gloss, and I think she looks great!

Practice in front of the mirror with a few things, and see what you like. Remeber, a little goes a long way and you don't want to look too made up...just let your natural beauty shine through!

(((jigs))) good luck!

...and mamac is right about the allergy thing. My skin is really sensitive, so I have to try something on a small spot to see if my skin is going to react to it before I put it on my face. Stick to brands that say "hypoallergenic" on the label.

Ahhhhh, Jigs. You're growing up on us. I agree w/ those above who said to keep it minimal. You are young and have beautiful skin, so don't need anything to cover it up. Make up is supposed to accent and highlight your features, not cover them up.

jigs, it's so cute and adorable that you want to look pretty...guess what? you are already!

I do wear make up everyday because I like how it makes me look, I can change my look, and I'm pretty good at it too, but I keep it pretty natural and fresh. Also, I'm not obsessed about it, so I'm pretty comfortable if I don't wear anything if I go to the beach, or camping, or doing sports.

for the next many many years you'll have beutiful skin and that is the best accessory, and a smile is the best make up. But make up is a very girly thing and that is all right too, so I would suggest: curl your lashes (if they are not curly already), put some of that clear mascara (to set them) and wear lip gloss (GAP has some nice ones). that should be enough. Wear nice clean clothes, cut your nails, EAT HEALTHY so your skin glows, your hair shines and your nails are hard and strong.

Have lots of friends, study hard, and every morning when you see yourself in the mirror think how beautiful you are, right after waking up.

It IS true that beauty comes from within, so beautify your soul everyday.

hi Kristy,

I haven't been on line for a couple nights... Sorry to have missed you, but perhaps you'd still like a little more input.

I greatly doubt you need any makeup ~ a bright, gorgeous, infectious smile is the best knock-out makeup I know.

Like the ladies above, I agree you don't need any, and if you want to use some - use very little. A little goes a long way. My daughter only uses makeup for special occassions, and I help her with it. We use clear mascara, tinted lip gloss, and nail polish for her finger & toe nails. She really likes having her nails done & usually just puts on lip gloss. We like the kinds were it has sun protector in it ~ it makes her lips shiny & it is healthy for them.

My Mom always taught me to just pinch my cheeks lightly to make them pink ~ a natural blush that is always handy! (get it? HAND-y?)

Oh well, I've never claimed to be super funny!

Just remember Kristy ~ you look wonderful when you smile, your natural beauty shines thru. Makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty just a little bit.

All the best ~

Juanita

Jigsy - I agree that you shouldn't wear makeup yet. I've been wearing makeup for many years.. in fact, I don't feel like I can go out of the house without putting some on. It becomes too much work sometimes and I remember the days when I just used to wake up, wash my face, put on a little lip gloss and still feel pretty. I miss those days! So, my advice to you is to go without makeup for as long as you possibly can. There is plenty of time for that sort of thing. Be 12 and naturally beautiful for as long as you can - natural beauty is the best kind. I think that your idea of buying books instead of makeup right now is a WONDERFUL idea!

Hi Kristy anne! There were a lot of answers for your queston, so I didn't read them, I'm sorry if I tell you something that already got said, but I want to tell you what my big sister taught me, she was the best makup advice girl ever!

First, I used lip gloss with a color in it. When you are your age, your lips already have a pretty color, and you want to make that color show up more, not cover it up. If you go to Wal Mart, there is some lip gloss from the Olson Twins that is sparkly and has a little color but not too much. Also, then it's not as messy.

Second, on your eyes you should use a color that isn't too bright. If you can find a sort of white color with sparkles would be pretty, or a pretty purple that is really light (called lilac), that would be nice. If you jsut close one eye, you take the little brush thing and draw on the part you can only see when your eye is closed, that would be nice.

Third, for blush you can use a little tiny bit of your lip color and rub it in really good, that makes you look really natural and pretty. It makes your lips and cheeks mach perfectly.

Finally, you may want clear mascara for your eyes so it doesn't show up if you mess up, I think I saw Mama say that too. Vaseline also works really well for it.

We think of you every night in our prayers, Jigs, and baby flower and I are both so proud of you, you're growing up so fast!!! Hugs and kisses to you, sweetie! Love, Flower.

Kristy!

LOL!!! Uh-oh! I better watch out! I never thought giving advice to make YOUR cheeks blush would turn around to make MINE blush!

((((((((((((((Big hugs))))))))))))))))

I'll let you in on a little secret if you can keep it all to yourself (shhhhhhhhh)...

You are a Love.

You have so much wit, love, charm, & talent housed within yourself, you absolutely do not need any makeup for people to see how gorgeous you are. [and by some slime chance, they can't?.... they are dumb & blind]

You've made my night ~ pinchy,pinchy,pinchy.....

jigs,

my daughter is your age, and I let her wear lip gloss and a little pale color eye shadow, only on the eye lid.

Taking care of your skin is CRITICAL - you need to wash it all off before you go to bed at night.

Also, most makeup needs to be replaced after six months because germs grown in there - NEVER share makeup with a friend - it's like sharing a hairbrush or toothbrush...YUCK!....this makes it VERY expensive.

My daughter also likes to do her nails - that's something that you can do easily. Bonny Bell makes little lip glosses, nail polish and eye shadows, that are inexpensive and a way to experiment.

My daughter is not allowed to wear makeup to school - only around the house or with her friends - until she's older and knows what she is doing....often she puts too much on and looks kind of silly and I don't want people teasing her.

Get your cute little tushie outside in the sunshine - get some color in your cheeks with some exercise - a natural "glow" is MUCH prettier than make up on your face.

And also, I think there is a book out there - about a girl's growing body - by American Girl company - and it goes thru all kinds of personal things such as shaving, your period, body odor, dealing with difficult friends, makeup, exercise, eating right, pimples and more - EXCELLENT book for a girl at your age - perhaps gram can get it from the library for you.

Taking care of your skin is more critical than wearing makeup - cuz if you don't, you may end up all covered in pimples and blemishes or dry skin and then the makeup won't do much good.

keep coming back, I am glad to help you thru this.

There is also another book "All About Me" by Judy Blume that came highly recommended to my daughter & I. It too is all about the changes a young lady goes thru when changing from a girl into womanhood. Barnes & Noble Bookstore recommended it to us as well as some parents I know.

Hey Kristy! Guess what new kind of pet my daughter talked us into!

A HERMIT CRAB!

At first I didn't think I'd like it, but it is kind of neat (so long as you don't mind scratchy kind of noises). It likes to dig in sand & climb up pieces of wood in its glass tank. I was surprised how fast it can move. When I was holding the shell in my hand, it came out & starting walking around. hehe, it felt kinda tickly, but I got nervous that it might pinch me. They've got a good grip, let me tell you! On the way home, the pet store put it in a paper bag. The darn little critter CLIMBED the inside of the paper bag! I didn't think it could do such a thing. The inside of the bag is smooth, so I thought, but there must be enough pulp fiber for the crab to grab onto & climb. (shiver me timbers!)

Oh well, just wanted to share our latest animal adventure. Who'd have thought hermit crabs to be cute? Not I, but they 'grow' on you.

All the best!

Juanita
