I posted this question at the end of another thread, but thought this would be a bettter way. I was reading the thread where you guys were talking about Janis. I am only familiar with maybe two of her songs, but want to hear more. Any ideas for a good CD to start with?
Thanks!

Sure--"PEARL" is probably still available--she died before that one was released but it is good. In the late '90's they released a new one--I didn't like it, really--it was a lot of stuff that they found in a closet somewhere and I am having a senior moment right now and can't remember the name of it but if you go to any music store and ask for the newest release they should have it.
If you can find the one she recorded with Big Brother and the Holding Company which I believe is entitled Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company (BLONDIE HELP ME HERE!!!) Anyway, it's got "Ball and Chain" on it--that's great and Janis at her best.
Sorry, about not having a really good memory--they say if you remeber the "60's--you didn't enjoy 'em"--I must have had a GREAT time.

Do you mean "The Rose"? Thanks for jogging my memory, Blondie. I lost all my stuff from that time in my life but I'm slowly getting back what's important. I'm looking at the cover of "I got dem ol' Kosmic Blues again, Mama!" as I type--found it in a used record bin. I've got "Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits" and "Pearl" and the new CD I mentioned "Farewell Song" which says on the back that it came out in 1982 instead of the '90's like I thought--I must have been SERIOUSLY out of the loop for 10+ years--and that's it ,unfortunately.
I LOVE the blues . My significant other is a blues keyboard player and the blues scene in Houston is really big. I think that you'd like it down here. I LOVE this city. The music, theatre and art scene are truly fine here. Well, gotta go create--gotta week off to play artist-- on your mark--get set-- create!!!

Blondie,

The last time I was in N.Y.C. was 1989. Yep, all God's children GOT to love the blues---and someday for sure we need to get down and get funky--when I become independently wealthy--this is no joke --it's in my plan. I believe that someday someone out there will pay me what I'm worth for what I love to do--and I'm worth a lot.
So hang in girlfriend--it'll happen.

Oh yes, I think about it all the time--even did it once when I was young, and inexperienced and I failed which fed right into my insecurities--never good enough, ya know.
Anyway, I believe that every small creative step is leading me to my destiny--the "parent tapes"("you can never make a living doing that.) that play in my head and have for years are slowly wearing out and--hopefully will soon be gone--which I choose to interpret as a sign that I'm finally coming into my own--
Hey, cut out that lowly s***t--NO ONE is lowly--and I NEVER forget my friends. Lter.

When I need a music fix I go to derek and the Dominos....Layla and other love songs...

"Bell bottom bllues", "I looked away"
"Nobody kknows when you're down and oout." (bein' from Cananda there)
Not to meention..."Layla" and one of my faves..."Thorn Tree in the garden"
Anyway...........

I have been out of the loop so long tht I just learned that besides Eric Clapton (which i knew already) Duane Allman was part of of D and the Dominos.

ahhhh...the good old music
