So I got this awesome position right now. Well it is ok. I am getting bored with it though. I get it done easy, which is kind of a problem since then I have nothing to do.
Well I signed something to interview for this other position with more to it, plus more money. I thought the interview went well. Maybe ya'll can tell me your experience.
When I was a manager I never said these things to someone even if I was going to hire them. But I was in a different type of work.
So the person who was interviewing me kept telling me that this job would be perfect for me. That it would help me get my foot in the door more so. The person also asked me a question on to what I would do if 2 of the crew were fighting. The interviewer told me that I was the only one to say take them and separate them to talk. I mean I said to leave one out with others, but after I realized what would happen I corrected myself by saying leaving the other one out would cause the other workers to continue to be distracted.
But I guess I dont get why someone would tell me I am perfect for the job if I wouldnt be getting it. Has this happened to anyone and they didnt end up with the job? Out of the people who signed up for the interview I have the least experience and time with the company by a lot.
Help me out please. No one seems to get why I am having a problem with this. I mean I hope I get the job. I think if I dont get it it is kind of rude to say a thing liek you would be eprfect for this job.

Billy just wait for next week....who knows, i have been to so many interviews, they seem like they like me yet i never got hired...One good thing for you, is you are already in this company right??so you are just moving ahead more??? So is this the "same" company or new companyl..cuz if its the same, most likely you will get in......most companies hire from within....just not sure if its the same company you are with now.......i'd relax, let nature take its course, whats done is done........i even went on an interview with the Police Dept, came in 11th place, called them and asked why 11th and not 2nd or 3rd...they said I had an excellent interview...yet...i was up against a good amount of people, not something common, but we all were good candidates and they had nothing bad to say about me...yet being up against 16 people, i guess coming in 11th place wasn't so bad...we were all good, yet only one makes it.
You will do fine...keep me posted, ok!!

In a business sense, I don't think it's professional for a manager to say such a thing; however it does happen, a lot. It's happening at the job I'm in right now. I can identify with your strong inner reaction to it a LOT; I'm really not sure how much of that has to do with my adult beliefs about justice and fairness and how much is old tapes leftover from a childhood where all the adults were out of control. I'm trying to figure stuff like that out this year, because like you this sort of thing drives me crazy.
I'm not getting that you'd be stressed by the company or the promotion per se, just the manager's remark really...right?

Yea it is mainly how the manager interviewed me. I wouldnt say those things if the person wasnt gonna get hired. That is coming from me as a manager. Even if the person was going to get hired. Saying those things is hmm.
I mean i just signed it to sign it. After hearing that the other person was gonna get it, well I was fine with it. But then being told that this job is perfect for me. That my manager thinks I would do good in the job.
Just it is bugging me.

BILLY, patience is everything, think good thoughts and hopefully that job will be yours.....remember, you have no control over it, whether you get hired or not, so leave it be, think good thoughts and wait patiently till next week.....yep, easier said than done.
I have been thru too many pitfalls, of companies telling me that i am great, etc...then don't get the job...not to make you feel worse, but anything can happen.........yet i think of all the times, that i was up against a ton of people, and the company picked ME!!!! So you do have a good chance......who knows what the cards hold....just keep your head high, and i hope you do get that job, as you well deserve!!!

Oh, Billy...I TOTALLY feel for you. The person I "officially" (I think) work for at my job contradicts herself all the time. At one point she went back on an earlier OK for me to leave early fopr a medical appointment, and all I could think about for MONTHS was "how can a person be like this?" Matter of fact I still do think about it, but less now. With co-workers, sometimes we'll never get a complete answer as to the "why" they are the way they are.
What has helped me in this situation is reminding myself that when I'm off the clock I'm off the clock, and to think about these people off the clock is in a sense "working" and not getting paid...also, my boyfriend is a real film buff and is good about getting me lost in movies and such. Do you share with your fiancee about this stuff? Maybe she could help you take some of the edge off the repetive thoughts, whether through watching a movie or something, or even a foot rub!
I'm also taking a lot of pictures lately, a relatively new hobby...it's a lot of fun, and I find I can forget the work stuff sometimes. For my boyfriend, video games help...just throwing things out there. I know it's hard.

It just bugs me. I guess I just dont get why someone would say those things if I wasnt gonna get hired.

But then well I dont know. Does it make sense? I am just curoous if it happens a lot. When I would interview I may of known ahead if the person wasgoing to get the job, but I wouldnt lead them either way. It was just the questioins and some personal questions that got me to what kind ofperson it was. I didnt give them much in the fact oh youd be good for this job. If they were good for the job id call them or tell them before they left they got the job.
I am pacing and I bit my nails and skin off my fingers. Not good.
