Calmness in Our Lives

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works and we could all use
a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice I heard on the
Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed "The way to
achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and
never finished."

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished,
and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off 23 Bud Lights, a bottle
of Absolute, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the
rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel.

Please pass this on to those you feel might be in need of inner peace.

Oh finally someone took Dr. Phil's advice to the heart!

BRAVO!

Thanks for the tip! I want to feel so freaking good just like you do, so I'm going to search for my inner peace now! (I just have to finish laughing so hard!)

I find inner peace when I dance with a man who knows how to dance. I also find inner peace cycling in the hills. I love playing volleyball. I find inner peace doing nothing. I find inner peace when I dont worry, and I can relax my head.! I find inner peace laughing hysterically.

Am just about to meet up with a best mate who knows how to laugh. 🙂

I'm with P & L!

But... a favorite expression of mine is "Want what you have instead of having what you want" if you have Bud Lights, Pizza, or an unfinished portion of chocolate cake in the fridge -like me-, then I am wanting what I already have, no? 🙂 I'll do super duper meditation after! It's only a smidgin of cake, you know...

Its hard to find inner peace when my head rattles on as it does. My yoga class is great for that! I really believe that we already possess all we need within us, but for me, its just finding out how to project that into my life where I have trouble. All of you are helping, though! Thanks!

Fun thread! -Pom 34

cool Pom-

I enjoyed the moments as I read your response! So, do u have any favorite authors?

Recently, I was on IM with "dreamboy" as they call him on the darn dating thread, and the whole thing felt miserable. Rather than relying on old familiar habits that I *used to* think would bring me happiness. I closed the window and walked away from the computer...and I walked away for good. Sometimes, dreams are nightmares if that is what we choose. Nightmares don't bring peace, but we can learn a lot from embracing our suffering. It is part of the human condition. We can choose not to add to it, and like you say, be happy for what we already have. I never understood this, until I was at risk of losing everything.

Hey P & L!

Hmmm... Favorite authors.

I have many, in many different realms.

Self Help: Kennth Keys Jr. Author of "A Conscious Person's Guide To Relationships" old book, probably out of print, but man, I haven't found any other relationship books to match this one. Found at a used bookstore. Joseph Campbell, Deepak Chopra, Melanie Beattie (Codep No More)

Other authors: classics, Jane Austin, Alexandre Dumas, Ray Bradbary, Sommerset Maughm

Recent authors: Amy Tan, Anita Shreve, Stephen King, Jan Karon, Fannie Flag, Neil Gaiman, Dan Brown, Barbara Kingsolver, Joyce Carol Oates, Sue Monk Kidd --this list is too long!

So, as you can see I am a constant reader of all kinds of books. I have learned a lot from them. I am also into poetry and a writer of it. 🙂 My job is in language education.

Enough! I have the Dali Lahma's "Instructions For Life" posted by my desk here so I can always see it. He has a website that is quite Insightful! Check it out. Just Google His Holiness Dali Lahma and look for the offical site. I plan on picking up one of his books soon! (Sorry for the misspellings, o well...)

Take care and it's nice to find friends like you online! Namaste!

Thank you for the laugh, i immediately was attracted when i saw "dr phil" and then read on. Unfortunately there is nothing here to finish. I am looking forward to finishing up my son who is destructive. Let me try to think of how i can do it. In the meantime, Thanks.
