I am currently a social work student doing my internship at a group home for teens. As part of my internship I will have to lead group eventually and was looking for some creative ideas.

Thanks:)

I was in a setting like that myself once. One time we played a role-playing game. There were cards with situations and cards with the people involved in the situation, and the teens acted the situations out. For example, you could have a situation when a girl wants to go out with her friends and her mother's first reaction is "no." Then the girl and her "mother" work things out and try to find a way to solve the problem. Understand? It's a good way for teens to learn problem-solving and relationship skills.

This might sound strange but my son came home from school one day and had a decorated uncooked egg in his hand. I ask him what he was doing with the egg. He stated that it was project. The project was to pretend that the egg was a new born baby and he had to take care of it. This mean't he had to take it with him everywhere, including to hockey practise, the store, his friends...etc. I thought that this project at the time seemed odd. It was not until the end of the week that my son made some decisions in his life. He stated, that the egg was a BIG RESPONSIBILITY and that it took alot of his time caring for the egg. He had to take the egg with him everywhere. He stated, that he could not really enjoy himself. He said he felt like he was tied down. The just to this story was that some girls in his class decided that they wanted to finish school and go travel before they have children. I guessed they learned something from this project. Don't you agree?
Good Luck

I think you wil enjoy this. My little girl came home one day with a praying mantis on her hand. I said what art you doing with that praying mantid??? She said "he's eating me so nicely that I can't hold him back. "

What does a mother do?

I wondered about that.
