i feel like that as well i think its a way of avoiding your own problems cause you have something else to think about ! remember you can't help others if you fall to pieces in the process! everyone has to be selfish in this life, would they do it for you if the shoe was on the other foot ? that might sound nasty but its a fact of life not everyone in this world cares as much as you ! mores the pity

take care

So, what is wrong with that? Balance is the key, but we I truly believe are supposed to give, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right?

In AA they teach us you have to give what you take in. It is apart of the healing process.

ask in your area for information about a Group that you can fit in.I believe that joining a group will do you a whole lot of good. Group therapy will be beneficial to you and to others in the group that you are part of.

Perhaps solving others' problems helps us have hope that we will one day solve our own. It can be a rewarding experience to feel like you've made a positive difference in someone's life. However, no changes happen in any life just because they have a good friend to problem solve with. Ultimately, life changes happen because the person decides to do the hard work and make positive changes, then develops the strength to make it happen. What greater reward than making the decision to change your own life? It's really hard, but some here (like Damaged) can say from experience that it's really worth it. This is something I could benefit from thinking more about. Maybe a lot of us could. . .

Look up more info on codependancy. I was the same way exactly. Fix yourself first and don't worry about others problems, they are responsible tp fix their own.
