HI EVERYONE, YOU DON´T KNOW ME, I´VE NEVER POSTED ANYTHING BEFORE BUT FOR SOME TIME I´VE SILENTLY TAKEN BENEFIT FROM SOME OF YOUR WISE RESPONSES, SO HERE´S MY ISSUE, I, LIKE MOST OF YOU, HAD A RELATIONSHIP WHICH TURNED TOXIC BECAUSE OF CODEPENDENCE, I BEGAN WITH THE USUAL SYMPTOMS; DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, CONFUSION, ETC. I STARTED SOME SORT OF THERAPY WITH A VERY GOOD FRIEND OF MINE AND SLOWLY I BEGAN TO REALIZE THAT MY RELATIONSHIP WAS A LOST CASE, IT HAS TEKEN ME VERY LONG, PROBABLY LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE, BUT I WAS ALSO DEALING WITH A GREAT DEAL OF GUILT, WEL LANYWAY, ACCORDING TO THIS THERAPIST, I´VE MADE HEALTHY PROGRESS AND NOW I´M ON A SAFER PATH, THE PROBLEM IS I CAN´T SEEM TO SHAKE THIS DEPRESSION OFF...I´VE NOTICED IT IS VERY MUCH RELATED TO MY HORMONES, IF I WILL BEGIN TO OVULATE, I GET DEPRESSED MAYBE FOR THE FOLLOWING 5 OR 6 DAYS, AND THE SAME THING WITH MENSTRUATION....THE THERAPIST SAYS MY DEPRESSION BECAME CICLICAL BECAUSE UNCOUNSCIOUSLY I´M BRINGING IT UP, AND THAT MY HORMONES ARE NOT HELPING...SHE´S SUGGESTING I TAKE MEDS FOR IT, AND HERE COMES THE ISSUE, DO I TAKE THE MEDS, OR DO I WAIT AND SEE IF THE DEPRESSION GOES AWAY BY ITSLEF I´VE READ IT IS SOMEWHAT RISKY TO EXPERIENCE DEPRESSION FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AS IT CAN BECOME CHRONIC...WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Geniemty,

Glad you are here.

I have PMS related problems. Depression I say no out of pride, but if I were totally honest, I do have to fight to keep it from overtakeing me at times. Anyway, YES, I have mood fluctuations right before my time starts and also at ovulation time. I get uncontrollably angry, shakey, migraines, IBS, etc. My doc put me on Buspirone. It is for PMS and for anxiety. It really cleared me up. I still get a bit of PMS but not like I used to. So, in my opinion, take the meds depending on what they are.

Oh, feel free to read and/or post any time.

I suffer from hormonal related depression. It first became apparent as post-partum depression, and is definitely worse when I am pre-menstrual. I now take Zoloft, which works very, very well for me. So well, in fact, that I don't even know for sure when my period is coming! It used to be so obvious before, with the days prior being filled with rage and tears. My doctor has said I will probably need to remain on anti-depressants through menopause. I have gone off of them at times, and the depression returns. It works for me, and I'm staying on them. At times I have had the dose adjusted lower or higher depending on life's circumstances.
