Yes Lewis!!!!

At different times in my life, I have had dreams which would recur over and over again for a very long time. Two scary, one beautiful. Now I finally have self-diagnosed myself for something else going on since the mid 90's, called sleep paralysis. It is the most horrible thing I've ever experienced. On the other hand, sometimes when I have this I can fly (in my dream), but it is so real that I actually can feel it in my body.

One of the scary dreams I used to have in my 30's was going through a long dark tunnel with something horrible behind me. I didn't hear it, just felt it. I did some reading wherein you could learn to control your dreams. Sometimes I can do this, sometimes not. This partifcular dream though, the last time I had it, I was in the tunnel and stopped. I knew in my mind then that I was controlling this dream. I also knew that no matter how awful, I must turn around and see what was behind me. Lewis, it took every fiber of my being to make my body turn around in that dream. Guess what? I was almost all the way around when I woke up. I never had that dream again. This dream, I feel, is pretty much self-explanatory.

The beautiful dream I have is being in an airplane flying over the most beautiful crystal-blue water I've ever seen. At times, I'll be on the beach and a huge wave of this water is coming, but it isn't scary at all, it is beautiful and wonderful, awesome!!!

The sleep paralysis is quite another story, which I've found is brought on by stress. It can be very, very bad and last all night. If it's gets to be too terrifying, I have to get up.

I'm a very vivid dreamer Lewis and a lot of the time, it's just great. Trying to be aware to have some control of the dream is fun too. I hope you guys don't think I'm too weird, but it is possible to have some control over them at times, probably different for everyone.

Do you mind telling what your dream is?

howdy : )

nope i don't mind, i'm just a 'little lazy' was hoping you could guess : ))

wanttobewell, i read some dream book, about being aware of being in adream and having control, it was called, 'lucid dreamer' apparently a gift. you sound like you have had astral dreams too? do have any interest in this sort of thing?

Anyways cutting to the dream I've been having for ages!

i keep going back in time to a time in my life when i worked in a clothes shop, everytime i find myself there , i hear myself say, 'i'm here again' its a weird feeling. however, every return the scene is different, but the outline is always the same?

hope that makes sence?

little bit more perhaps.

i just find it strange that i keep finding myself back there?

When dreams locate us “back in time,” they are telling us that our current behavior reminds us of how we used to feel when we were younger. Or something else to consider is that You may be repeating an old sequence or cycle of events that makes you feel "stuck in the past".
Whaddaya think?

mmmmmmm

i did think that too! which is a little worrying for me.

one time when i went back to the shop again in my dream , i was serving a customer, when i went in to the till to give them change, there was no change in the till. i heard myself saying in a shocked voice & quite loud, 'there is no CHANGE'

i wondered, is there no change in me & my life is that what it was saying?

Are you stuck in the same rut you;ve been in? Have you set goals for yourself and taken steps towards them? If you havent, dont panic, thankfully its something You can 'change'!

That is interesting. I also have dreams about being back in old jobs but getting lost trying to get to them or getting on the wrong highway to go home (I forgot I've been having that one lately). I am very interested in dreams as mine have always been very lucid, but I'm not always able to control them. Astral dreaming I'm not too sure of. I'm not sure if the sensation is really astral or just well,,a dream.

Your dream about not having change,,,does it make you feel a certain way when you realize you don't have change? Panic, fear, confused, frustrated, neutral?

That's how I try to interpret my dreams. I try to go by how I feel during the dream. The constantly getting lost on the road or in the hospital I used to work doesn't cause fear but rather just a "lost" feeling, hard to describe. I need a definite plan in my life it would seem, so that's how I interpret that one for myself.

In reading about sleep paralysis, there was a method one person used to control this,,,,instead of trying to sit up, etc, he rolled to the side then had the sensation of being out of the bed and over to the window, saying he knew he could go out the window if he wanted but was afraid he couldn't get back. I tried the rolling over night before last because it was a really bad experience, and I could feel myself rolling but felt really out of control almost spinning instead of rolling, so I stopped and finally woke up somehow. That was one of the bad ones that I ended up having to get up for about an hour or so.

Didn't mean to take over your thread Lewis. I don't find many people who dream as I do or find it as interesting as I, so I love to talk about it when I can.

Anyway,,hope you can figure yours out!! I figure most people can do it if they really think about their feelings during the dream and what's going on in their life. Maybe some of my more "fantastic" dreams are just escapist or self-entertainment!!! The really beautiful ones I hope could be visions of afterlife? Who knows?

Sweet dreams,,W.

i can't beleive it!

i went bac to the shop again last night!
different situation but the same place, i was scared to go up stairs because of the ghoasts.

Wanttobewell
when i found out we had no change, i felt damn annoyed!

i think your right there is an undercurrent feeling of being 'lost'

when you mention sleep paralysis, this sounds like out of body experiences? i don't know what you know or think about this? but the falling and rolling feelings are related? i too have had these feelings?

i'm just freaked out why i keep going back, i keep asking myself, what is about that moment in time, and 'now' is related. i'm worried what i might find out?

thanks for replys: ))))

sweat deams to u too : ))

hi twinks : )

yes i can go to the shop, however it has changed allot since i worked there.

weird that u should mention that, because i was thinking, i might pop in!

i'm really trying to get to the bottom of it, the only thing i can find, is that it was a very intence part of my life, when i look back i think phew i'm glad i came through that! it was good, but deep inside me, i was so sad.

i don't want to keep going back there in my dreams because it makes me feel confused?

i read somewhere that dreaming of a house represents our subconcious, depending on the house image, eg mansion, cottage and the rooms that we enter. for example i dreamt once that the house i was in was litterally falling down while i was in it! perhaps at the time of the dream this could reprensent how i was feeling . 'my world was crumbling around me? who knows?

c ya : )

: )

happy dreaming : )

I have the same dream over and over again of dying, I wonder if that means I will die soon? It scares me, they are more like night terrors than anything.

What feelings do you have when you are dreaming about the store? Do they change with each dream, or is it always something negative like fear, stress, feeling overwhelmed, not having what you need, etc?

In my humble opinion, you are going back there over and over again because you have grown strong enough to deal with some things that happened during that time that maybe you haven't been able to work through yet. From what you are saying, I would guess that you suffered some kind of devastating loss.

If you are willing, it would be interesting to learn a bit more about what was going on in your life then. Thanks for sharing all you have so far. All the input from others is also very interesting.

its a strange feeling - i'm not too sure? like i'm over burdened, stressed, full to the brim?
When i go back there, there is a feeling that i could be thinking, 'as if i haven't got enough to do, as well as be back here and sort all this out too!

i reckon i was just growing up then, i had alot of fears about life and relationships.

the only thing i am thinking about at the mo, is what is similar to now, & i'm worried that the dream is telling me that i,m doing the same thing over again, but in a different enviroment. Like unconsiouly repeating myself.

i'm one of thoses people that has to be busy, & sometimes i get fed up with being the one that always sorts it out, Just little thinks like ordering coffee is left to me, & what i'm trying to say is the job that i had then is similar to the one i have now, it is a small enviroment, not too many people working here, just like back then in the shop.

i think what i'm trying to say is, what happens to us isn't always our choice, & sometimes it is what we are and we can't blame other's for not being 'born' organisers & leaders.

i think it's just clicked!

i'm in a rut now like i was then!
