my boyfriend talks to me during a movie, "predicting" the plot. I told him to stop talking to me, and he did it a second time. Just couldn't resist. Any solutions other than duct tape?

stuff a sock in it?

did you say "please be quiet" and that's it...or did you explain why you want him to be quiet?

Perhaps you need to explain why you need him to be quiet...and that if he wants to dissect the movie AFTER it's over, you will be glad to talk about what he thinks about it.

I know I have ADD, and it makes me fidgety during movies....sometimes I can't help being noisy.

On the other hand...I think it's great that he THINKS about what he's watching...and trying to make up ideas of what's going to happen next....in school, teachers are CONSTANTLY trying to get kids to think about what they are reading or watching and come up with those ideas.

So, it's not really a bad thing...just his timing.

THANKS for the perspective. I know, he's being harmless, can't help it, etc. I think he has ADD too. Overall, it's not a terrible thing.

Yes I told him, but he forgets.

maybe you can remind him and then come up with something like a simple "shhh"...or "hold that thought" ....or "let's discuss it after".

sometimes us ADD people can't help ourselves!

Artist,

Could you just be straight up with him and say that you will ruin the end if he is right about the plot. That you just want to enjoy the flick. Just a thought.

Hi Artist,

I have had the same problem with Snow since day 1. He CONSTANTLY talks during movies, t.v. shows, etc.

What works for me is this.....

He is a news freak and HAS to watch the 10 o'clock news every night. So when he starts blabbing during something I want to watch...I just say...."Ok, hon, I want to watch this right now but I'll be happy to listen to everything you have to say at 10."

That ususally does the trick.

Good luck,
Lolli
