A couple of weeks ago when it was fifteen degrees out I found two little puppys. I brought them in fed them warmed them up and took them in for the night. Did all I could to find the owners but didn't. I have four big dogs so I couldn't keep them. Long story short.

I realized this is one of the good sides of my codependency. This is helping when it's needed. when something is helpless to help themselves. True giving and loving without expecting something in return. So, the moral to my story is I don't think its all bad. I think that helping someone or something that is helpless is great. Yet helping and taking care of people who can help themselves it what drives me insane. I am finding that I can be loving and caring to the appropriate things and not loose myself. Instead of giving my all to be used and crapped on.

So the giving isn't always such a bad thing.
THese babys got a warm home with a farmer who has many acres and a child who was wanting a dog really bad.

Hopefull,

It is my experience that we codependent people are extreemly compassionate and sympathetic people with big open hearts, and such kind and generous spirits. These are all good things, great things!!!

It's all about finding the balance, knowing when it is ok to give, but also letting ourselves know it is ok to take, and to not give EVERYTHING away. Knowing when to love others, and when loving others is hurting ourselves.

I think it is beautifull that you can find a positive way to look at it! Balance!!!

Love and best wishes,
Erica

Ah hopeful...what a nice story...how lovely that they found a good home. And yes, what you say is true...this is the good side of being codependent, we are the carers, the givers of society, if there were not people out there who took advantage of that part of us, it would be a perfect world!!!

I guess I was just seeing it as all bad. I guess if I need to fill this thing in me where I want to give and need there are plenty of appropriate ways and places I could help. Not the inappropriate things I had done.
