I have applied for the instructional aide position. I have the experience for this position and have met the requirements as listed. This position requires at least 40 unitts to apply, but I have over 98 units plus one year of instructorial experience.I have received an e-mail yesterday and they turned down on me for conducting an interview because they found other candidates for this position. I feel so bummed out about that. I have attended an expensive University and have many skills to offer.I feel unfair to know that I am turned down after knowing that I have the experience for this job. What should I do next?

SJ,

I know it is hard right now - but TRY not to take it personally - if you can.

I know it is a real bummer to feel that hey - I have all the qualificatiions....and them some!!!

Who knows why - exactly?

One suggestion could be for you to call and find out why you were denied.

Who knows?

What have you got to lose?

There could be many explanations....

Perhaps you were considered over-qualified?

Maybe the position was already given/slotted to someone else who was already 'plugged in' there and the interview process was simply something that had to go through proper protocol just to make it look good on the books.........

Could be any number of things.....

Like I said before, why not email them back and politely ask them if they could please explain to you just why you were not granted the interview as this information/pointers might help you to better understand what you can do possibly change as you continue your job search.

All they can do is not respond.

Hang in there!!!!!

yes, make that call and find out why you were not picked.

this has happened to me numerous times, i even call back and they tell me not to take it personally, but someone else was chosen.

someday you will get that good job you are looking for, it all just takes time and patience. I know!! cuz i am still getting so close to getting that job, going on 2nd interviews and still not getting picked...but someday i will!!

think positive!

Sorry you were turned down. Like Truth said, this is not personal. You weren't a fit for them but there is another place you were a fit for. I would call them and ask them to explain, for future reference, what other qualifications you needed and how you can better improve your CV for such a position.

Send more CVs out there and I'm sure you will get a job that fits you and the employer. You could also apply to be a sub in the meantime. All the best to you and congratulations for reaching this milestone in your life.
