Hi Z,

Good to know that your finacial aid was already approved. Well, I just want to extend a good luck on attending the classes you enrolled which seemed really obvious making your weekdays very hectic. Just try to be a little good at it.Wink

Btw, you and Dana seemed to be 2 different people, but your traits matched perfectly well. Take good care of her. And regarding your tattoo idea, get the coolest design and I'm sure she'll be surprised. Laugh

That's a load z!  I think one of the hardest classes I took in college was art appreciation.  I thought it was interesting, but just like History, I can never remember details to all that stuff.  Which artist did this during which decade, which battle did something happen in, etc.  and then English Literature- we had to read these poems and interpret- I was always in the wrong ball park lol.  I'd think "good grief, can't people just talk normal already".  Sounds like you are artistically inclined.  Way cool and admirable.  We just heard from my daughter's financial aid office today via email:  "your mom's w-2 does not match her income tax return, this is something she needs to get straightened out with the IRS."  AAARRGH!  We keep having to submit and re-submit stuff.  My other child's financial aid was approved months ago.  I'm wlling to bet they put 2009's W-2 and 2010's taxes together.    Classes start Monday and we can't buy books.  Financial aid office isn't open until Monday.   🙁

Hoping things are well with you Olivia.

Z - I think it is awesome that you are thinking of going to college.   My daughter is getting ready to start her third year.  She goes fully on grants and scholarships.   Her class starts 8/22/11, but today she is able to go to the college bookstore and get her books.   They give her sort of an advance on her grant money so she can get them.   Is there enough let from your grant money to get the books?  If so, maybe they have a program like that and will let you get them sort of on credit and then they just deduct that amount from your grant money before they give you the refund amount.   Anyway, good luck.  It will be worth it in the end.   Lots of hard work but very rewarding.   (((HUGS)))

wow lots of posters and supporters lol,

ok curious what you are talking about is called a book advance, which i thought i did not get, but i looked this morning and i was approved for it, i already ordered my books online and pick them up tomoro at the school, classes start i think for everyone monday (the 22nd)

and honestly if i had gotten a straight answer in the first place financial aid would have been super easy, i didnt need to provide any paperwork or anything, i got really lucky i guess. and as long as i can keep up my grades i get free schooling.

GEEEEEEZZZ thanks free! i was thinking art apreciation would be easy! lol i thought i would look at something and say "i can apreciate that" and pass with flying colors lol

and shining light it trust me when i say that i will take very good care of dana, just like she takes good care of me and makes sure i bathe and shave regularly. someone would have a better shot at taking out all the world leaders than cutting dana off in line while i am around. and i cant believe i am getting approval for my tattoo idea lol  she already said its a great tattoo idea and she loves it! why wont she let me get it nowwwww!!!!!

and someone please explain to me why do i allow a 105 pound jewish woman to make my decisions for me?

I'll explain:  because she makes good decisions for you!  🙂

How do you get a book advance?  Is there specific paperwork that has to be filled out, does it have to be specifically requested, or is it just granted after filling out the FAFSA?

free

free in all honesty i have no idea how the process or choice selection works for financial aid and book advances or whatnot but ill tell you how it worked for me,

i created a student id online at the school (but you can do this at home) i filled out the FAFSA online at home which took about an hour, now i went into details and gave all information they asked, you dont need to, they offer you the option of not revealing certain information, i am guessing because I DID give everything they didnt ask me to bring in any paperwork, litterally the next day my form was processed, about three days later FOR ME i looked online and it said i was approved for X amount of dollars, when i went to print my scedule it says on the lower left hand side "BOOK ADVANCE APPROVED FOR "X" amount of dollars. i went to the school bookstore with my scedule and showed them the book advance amount on the bottom, as long as my total doesnt go over that i get it for free. and they do take the book advance out of your total grant money so keep that in mind, and its really that simple,

Hi Z

I haven't been on for awhile - been busy with work, but thought I would stop in for a minute or two. Best of luck to you - I think it is wonderful that you are going to college!  You deserve the best in life and I hope this path leads you to it. If I read correctly, today would be your first day, so I'm hoping that it was the best day ever for you. Smile

thank you very much samantha that means alot, i hope everything is going good with you.

LOTS of homework, i volunteered to be non-fiction editor for the art magazing at the school. gym is not bad at all, i run about 3-4 miles a day. 1200 calorie diet with thermo genics, which i am told are suppose to be super strong but to an ex dug taker like me i barely bat an eye lash at my high dosage.

pretty sure i can manage the load, plus i can cheat. half of my classes require free writing, i happen to have over 200 pages of free writing and essays i wrote for fun over the years lol that should save some time.

olivia hope your doing good too, been a while since you popped in.

also went to a tattoo parlor to get a quote on a price, took alot of energy to NOT get it lol

but yeah i am kind of swamped right now reading books and studing and math homework and what not, not to mention gym. i am told this is for my benefit, remind me to kill those people who keep telling me this.

It is for you own good, just like its for mine but it is killer. I am so exausted and overwhelmed right now I could cry. Full time work and full time school are wearing on me. I work or go to school 7 days a week. I keep telling myself its temporary, and worth it, but it took 3 hours to do my algebra homework and i still have two classes worth of homework to go by tuesday. I LOVE being a student, working not so much. Sorry to be a bummer. How are you doing in your classes?

oh i stopped working when i started school, i said fuck that. i am good but i am not that good. i cant believe you manage to do both, i am kind of secretly hoping to get great grades to transfer out of state for my BA.

i find it funny that i am the nerd in my classes, lol especially since i am most likely the person who has commited the most felonies in my classes as well. now thats a good paradox lol

im actually doing homework right now online while posting this. i havent had a moment to breath in a week. bewteen homework, school work, NOT EATING ANYTHING I LIKE and making sure dana doesnt fall apart because without me she is utterly useless i am exhausted.

good side a smokin hot chick asked for my number. doesnt matter how long i stay out of the game i am still a star player lol

but yeah, to be fair and unbiased i still battle with massive depression late at night, its expected though right? i mean its liek i always said, its like a life long limp you learn to live with. at least i dont cut anymore, I AM TOLD thats a good thing. i personally miss it, a great way to relieve stress and anger, but hey i rather not watch dana burst into tears and yell at me at the same time. hope your doing good, miss you. please someone give me the strength to not start dating just yet. i dont have the time for it lol

How is the dating going? I suspect you don't really want to miss that. I  know what you mean though about not having time. I hardly have time to breathe between work and school. I am behind on one paper. I had a small meltdown and my teacher told me I can have all the extentions I need with out penalty. I appreciate her generosity. The rest of my grades are suprisingly good and I'm learning alot about myself in Psychology. What are you taking?

I had a long talk with my friend Mike today about David. I wish I had talked to him sooner. He said he was very angry with David with everything that happened and that because he caused me to go away he didn't even talk to him until I got back. I am not trying to take friends away from David but it makes me feel good that someone was mad for me. Mike told me once he loved me and because of David I didnt know how to respond, I didn't think I was good enough. He is married now. One more thing in my life i maybe missed out on because of him. Oh well right.

I have to go to Psychology now. I wish you were here so we could study together.

lol i am a horrible study partner, i have always been a loner and even today i tend to read alone. i do read to dana but thats because she asks me to.

im an english major so im taking creative writing, english, art apreciation, math, and college success.

just signed up for next semester, which will be creative writing (the next level), english, speech, art HISTORY (same teacher, i like him) and math again.

and i am happy to hear about mike, its like i explained to dana when she asked me why i didnt support my "friend" when they broke up, its because he as wrong, and friend or not, i do not support someone who is spiraling downward WRONGLY, and TRYING to drag me with him, and gets mad at me when i dont want to come along. you deserve to have a friend who is there for you because he knows how great you are.
