I have this "contraption" called a body dome - it's a half exercise ball - on a base, with resistance bands on it.

well, after almost two years, I finally opened the tapes.

put them in...and damn it, the thing HURTS my back...not the exercises, but the bumps on it....I have pressure points and it hits every one of them.

so then I try the cardio one and not only am I too damn uncoordinated to do it, but am winded after the first five minutes.

I know the point is to start small and work into it...but I am discouraged.

not to mention that my left knee makes a sound like when you crush packing peanuts....creaking.....and hurts to do things.

I dunno...I guess I knew I wouldn't make it thru the whole 20 minutes...I suck.

Sweetheart you are not alone im really out of shape. I when I can walk just go out and take a walk and when I can do that with out the threat of an asthma attack I will move on to other things. Hey swimming is a great one. Im going to be doing a lot of that this summer (it doesnt cause my asthma to act up) YAy Now if I could only find a bathing suit that works

well, I can't swim unless the weather cooperates, and I am in new england, so fat chance of that....no pools in our area.

plus, sad to say, I don't know how to "swim"....I can swim recreationally, but not like doing laps and stuff.

anyway, I will keep trying, that's all I can do...just hope my knee holds up.

I"m with you girls......

I'm not overweight but I am most definately out of shape.

I have a fairly physical job and tend to get very sore and bruise very easily. I have a lot of problems with my lower back which could be helped by doing simple stretching exercises....which I don't do. My muscles strain and I get out of breath very easily because I smoke....

I could go on and on.....

Perhaps this thread will help motivate me to do something about it!!!

well, the good news is, I had FINALLY lose another pound, after a two week standstill.

so, officially, I lost 18 pounds so far.

RW - I was 220 when I gave birth to my daughter...but hadn't gained much weight until the very end....they say overweight women gain less than skinny mom's....so don't stress too much.

I am more or less sticking to my new eating plan....a couple of fries or bites of "forbidden foods"...but overall doing the right thing.

and being good about my vitamin-supplement intake.

I just hate being so out of shape.

I just started working out again myself. I went out and bought myself some decent running sneakers and a good bike and have been alternating between some light jogging and some bike riding depending on the weather.

I know I've lost a few pounds because of the way my clothes is fitting but now I've developed this right shoulder blade/neck pain that will not go away.

I think I will pay my doctor a visit.

has anyone tried pilates? They whipped me into sh ape fast before. Right now, I just had a boob job and can't do anything for three more weeks. Now my boobs look all firm and good, and the rest of me is gross and out of shape, my stomach is almost as big as my boobs.

As soon as I can I will start the windsor pilates again.

Random -

once the baby is born, you should look into the boob job.

I looked into it and most insurances will pay for it if you are so big that it causes health problems. I think you could DEFINITELY qualify.

I identified with this topic. My four kids are grown and I am overweight and out of shape also needing a knee replacement. I try to get friends to diet/exercise w/me but no one will commit. If I do it w/someone, I get competitive and also know I feel accountable so I do better. I was thinking that maybe we can start something online to make us accountable for exercise and/or weight loss. Just an idea,....

I am not overweight (By 1/26th of a pound! WHOOOOPIE!!) I am pretty out of shape. I gained 30 pounds after by daughter. I am 5'5 and 154 lbs. DOcter said I could lose 14 pounds. I have been watching my weight and exercising for 2 weeks and have lost 3-4 lbs so far and I feel better.
Doc said for weight loss one has to exercise (probably cardio) 40 minutes 3-4 times a week or 30 minutes 5 times a week. I think walking is a really good choice. You can do it with bad knees ( even big boobs:)) You can stick you kids in a stroller or make them walk with you if they are older. I got am MP3 player and downloaded great songs that motivate me in both my exercise goals and other goals in my life. Walk-away by kelly clarkson, strong enough by cher, Unwritten by Natashia Beningfield ( I don't know if I spelled that right) You get the point. It helps me stay focused on all my life goals. ggfred, and others, I like the idea of talking to each other here and being accountable for our physical health as well as our mental health!

Ali- do you have a brace that you could put on your knee. That might help it from bothering you so much! I hope you have a great day! Talk to you later!
