I suffer from depression and anxiety - I have all my life. I take medication which keeps it under control most of the time but I would like to rid myself of this problem once and for all.
I am seeing a psychiatrist, but at one visit per week I fear I will be long dead by the time i achieve anything.
I thought of hypnosis but i have no experience.
Any thoughts?

Well seems the common thread here is hypnosis is subjective.. helpful for some, and not for others... and receptiveness is an important key also...

my T wants to use it on me to deal with anxiety around memory work.. but refuses to use it specifically for memory work.. worries that it is to invasive....

Hope all the info given you helps..

care~~~~~

pjm: It would seem that you have a stake in this web site you keep referring to on different threads. Is this really okay with the SC?

I just had a really great experience with it...and given the that I just thought it may be a good resource. It is not competition or anything...I just thought it would help...I hope I have offended anyone.

Are those last two comment SUPPOSED to be on this thread?

How long should you give a process before quitting? If hypnosis doesnt do anything for you immediately, should you keep trying? How about therapy? What is a time-limit for that? Shouldnt there be a point where you quit? Either because you are as far along as you are going to be or because it isn't getting you anywhere. How much time is this going to take? No one is more motivated than I am to be rid of my depressionand anxiety. I take steps forward (and back) every day. My life is some better than it was, but it requires SO MUCH WORK AND ENERGY!! If hypnosis makes it go faster, knock down resistance quicker, sign me up!
