Though I am not of the color or gender of one of our most influential and courageous leaders in this country......I will be celebrating MLK Jr. day tomorrow with awe and a sense of gratefulness.

Oppression happens in many forms.

For me, I glean much insight and hopefullness at the incredible strides that this great leader exhibited during his lifetime.

I too was oppressed, not by society, but by the secret dynamics present in my childhood.

And I too....can have a dream!!!!!!

Can I get a witness??????

Oppression comes in many forms not only racial. I believe we all can gather strength and admiration from someone who stands up against tyranny and helps the weak and/or disenfranchised. Only a few can be leaders but many can be followers to stand up for what is right and it comes in all colors, nationalities, and genders. So you've got a witness and thank you for the thread.

You definitely have a witness here!!
I am as white as they come.

I am so in awe of the contribution this wonderful soul made to our country, to this world. I have a copy of his well-known speech: It is really about what we all want to experience on this planet.

I have a dream speech brings tears to my eyes. I pulled it out and read it briefly. A true model of perseverence and eloquence. I am sure it can be found on the internet and it is truly worthy of reading.
