How does one tell their boss, that they are being disrespectful? Mine is a "Sit Down, Shut-up, Enjoy the Ride!" type of boss.

How about kiss my ass. HA HA. Just kidding. I don't know I just yell at my boss right back but he is an attorney.

I think with those type of people you have to be the aggressive stand up for yourself type as well, I think they respoect that more.

Aces....generally I am not one to stand down...but standing up to my boss is like running into the China wall...over and over and over....
He is never wrong, has to be right.

Angel1...good advice...agreed, and am looking.

Difficult to view this in the positive.

My mind is running amuck today...BUT,

Has anyone ever noticed or experienced how their work place, or their boss, reflects the personal relationships we choose as well?

How's about "Hey, Asshole, step the fuck off!"

It works for me and I've only been fired twice...

Love,

Ren'ai

Exactly, I think you should tolerate from your boss what you would from a guy you are dating. After all you spend most of the time of your life at this job, working for HIM, the least hecan do is be resepectful to YOU.

I had a situation like this some years ago (back in the 80's actually.) My boss at the time (a female) would ask me a question - and then as I proceeded to answer it - she would interupt me and ask another question and it went on and on like like. Then, one day - I had it! I was tired of getting knots in my stomach every day on the way to work. So one day, I got to work early and watched her as she came in and sat down (I worked in an office environment) then - with all of the courage I could muester...I think my voice even cracked - but nevertheless - I asked her if I could have a word with her. She said yes - and I point blank told her (I think I remember my words verbatim...) I said "I'm not a dog and I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't treat me like one." She huffed and puffed a little bit and got nervous...and played clueless....so I gave her some examples...like when she asked me a question and in the midst of my answering would just plow over me with more questions before hearing me out. The whole encounter was very brief and to the point and I knew that I had to have examples to back up where I was coming from. The amazing thing is - after that...she treated me with the respect that I deserved in the first place!!!!! No more knots in stomach šŸ™‚ Just this past month - I negotiated (and got) the MERIT raise I thought I deserved! People respect you when you can put your emotions aside and stick with the facts and prove your case....all depends, really, on what you are willing to accept and what you aren't. Same thing in personal relationships. So hang in there. Get your ducks in a row and confront your boss about what SPECIFICALLY you find offensive. Hope this helps.

I swear I was hummingthat as i scrolled down to post my lil' 2 cent ditty....

I would just say in responce ot comments" thats disrespectful."
Firmly, and not nastily, but just throw it out there.

Or stand up on your chair wit ha boom box blasting Aretha, and lip sync it.

And yes, I have noticed how my work places, and bosses have reflected a lot about my personal life....

perhaps I should fire my husband, or "write him up" or maybe thats why I am pending SSI disability afterall??/

Uggghhh thats a WhOLE other thread...
(sorry)
anywhhhoooooooo..
