In my efforts to heal from my codep, I try to show myself love and appreciation whenever possible.

This week I pampered myself by purchasing body lotion and shower gel with my favorite exhillirating Lilac fragrance and mascara.

How did you treat yourself lately?

~Love, Ras~

I am a tomboy and I bought Mary Kay cosmetics and skin care stuff. Somebody kick me, please.

"But my skin feels so silky smooth..."

Bah, whatever. It does feel nice though.

Guanga? Is that the same as "pakalolo"? It's one of my ways of spoiling myself--first I shower, then I rinse the tub, then I fill it with fresh water and add some kind of scented oil, turn off all the lights, get some candles burning, open a cold beer, and light up the "paka." Then I relax, finish my beer, and top off my date with myself by having incredible sex.

Oh, and I like art...

Spoiling ourselves is critical!!! How can anyone expect to "take care" of someone else, like their children or an aging parent if you don't know how to take care of yourself?

Thanks for bringing this up, Rasputin!

Love,

Ren'ai

I had a friend of mine in cosmotology school color my hair today. I really like it. My teen daughter has been wanting her hair colored so she was upset that i went ahead and had mine done. Like all teens she thought it should've been her. So while i like it and glad I did it I have to fight the feelings of that I was a bad and selfish person for spoiling myself instead of someone else. lol, but i really like it. lol

I haven't treated myself in a while!

My favourite way to treat myself is to go shopping for lovely sparkly tops in nice colours and cool shiny shoes with killer heels and then some diamondy bangles and beads to match!

Shallow I know...but there is nothing like retail therapy to give you a boost!

Its that time of the month. Yesterday my legs hurt real bad. My kids and their friends wanted me to walk around the mall with them and I said "no."
To compound my guilt they got another parent to take them.
When the house was quiet I dropped the guilt, put my legs up and watched a really stupid lifetime movie while eating half a carton of Edy's sugar free.
I enjoyed it immensely (the stupid movie and the icecream)

I'll go for a nice long bike ride if it's a nice day out and then come home, shower, take a nice hot bath and then chill out in front of the tv with the lights out in my room and the candles lit till I fall asleep.

You know what I do when I want to do a little something for myself...I go to the makeup counter at the mall and get a mini facial and complete makeover....FOR FREE!!

Then after I'm looking all good..I then go try on some sexy dresses and heels.I usually leave with nothing, but I feel beautiful for the day!

ginger, I LOVE Marykay!! If I kick you it's so I can grab your goods and run! Do you have satin lips? It's GREAT!

Ras, great thread, theres been so much thought here lately about treating ourselves well, so inspiring!

One thing I do latley as a mother is ALLOW MYSLEF TIME!

I pay the teen girls down the street to take her to their house and play for a couple of hours, clean the house quickly, then veg in front of the tv, paint my tonails, take baths or do a face mask, cook myself a truly nice lunch, put it on my good dishes, and sit in the back youard with it and a nice glass of wine or tea (depending on the meal, of course!)...it's a really excelent little retreat, sometimes I'll even wear heels when I do it, a nice outfit or something that is never really conveniant to toddler chasing. Just one exoticflowers opinion, I think it also helps me apriciate being a mother more when I give myself a break from it sometimes!!

Hugs! Ef

Ladies, I am so proud of you all for taking the time by showing love and appreciation to yourselves. Remember we don't have to break our budget and in fact many of our treats are as you can see can be quite free.

Where are the guys of this site to show us how they treat themselves?

I haven't had treat for quite a while either, so this time it really felt GREAT! The body lotion smelt as tasty as ice cream I could even lick it. And I got lipstick palette of 4/5 colors and eye cream both for free.

I like all your treats and do many of them to myself.

Rev, it is not shallow to give ourselves a treat every one and them, we really deserve it. I had the same feelings when I bought my few toiletries even though I did not spend that much money. As you can see Ilovemyboys had totally free treat at the cosmetic counter, shyshy as well, Renai, Bluewater(almost?!).

Flower and shy your treats are romantic.

Let's not be harsh on ourselves and treat ourselves as sweet dear child we cherish a lot.

I would love to know how the guys on this site pamper themselves!

~Love, RAS~

Ras,
If I'm interpreting correctly it's
marijuana
And I must say I enjoy treating myself this way too--except I feel so guilty about it--I suppose THAT'S not much of a treat, huh?

OK, I feel a little like 'the man' here, but this site is for a lot of different issues, some of them being recovery from drug addiction. I know, I know, it's not got addictive properties, but to the addictive personalities missing the stuff, I'm sure this is fairly unpleasant. I have nothing against it, it just made me too paranoid to function but to others without that problem I say "ah, must be great!"...but I think that some here would disagree and general talk of such may create some discomfort...maybe in Lib brew...? 😀

Last night on the way home from work, I stopped off to get some chicken for dinner, while in the shop, I spied box's of luxury chocolates on sale at half price. I bought'em, I opened the box soon as I got back to the car and ate two...then when I got home I parked in the driveway, turned up the volume on my Elvis Costello CD and munched almost the whole box!!!! My sister and BF didn't even know I was home, she was watchin TV he was asleep. I left two for later...I went in and made dinner, then at about 11pm, I went back out to the car and ate the other two!!!

Usually I would share such a treat with sis, BF and BF's mum...but this time I kept it a secret...it felt sooooo good!! I think I sniggered a few times while I ate them!

Very romantic with Elvis and all...or at least very dramatic, I guessit depends on the song!

Another nice one in that vein...sometimes when I know I've been cheap with myself or not gotten the things I need, I go get them and while I'm at the store I get a half pint of starbucks or godiva coffee ice cream, then eat it until I feel a little sick:) LOL, preferably like you rev, alone with some music!

What my inner child wants the most from me is my attention and assurance that I will never leave her. I give her lots of attention and say reasurring things to her all day long. I take her to the swiming pool for some fun and relaxation. Sometimes she wants me to call a certain person so I do that. Its all about my relationship with myself and listening very carefully to what I need and want and doing my best to provide that for myself. I talk ti myself a lot in the mirror and tell myself I love me and praise myself everyday. The most important thing to me is having my own love.

love,
kathy
