It's really sad that I live my life this way and I want to change desperatly. I am in a year and a half relationship where I feel trapped. I read the home page on codependency and I thought they were talking about my life. I don't know where this problem stemmed from but I do know that I want to change. I have every symptom mentioned and I let these consume my every thought. It gets to the point where it's a major distraction in my daily living. I am never satisfied with anything in my life. I don't know what it means to have fun anymore. I want help but where do I start.

When your sick and tired of being sick and tired you make changes, no pain, no gain. Unfortunately all of that is true. So now you want to be different, that is the beginning. Reading, participating in groups, one on one counseling are all part of the process. Make a picture of who you want to be, where you want to be, and basically goals for you to achieve, out line what is necessary to get there, then start with baby steps . Drawing boundry lines for the co-dependent is the one of the most important things to do.Then focus on your goals. Learn how to say no, and mean it, learn to love your self first, learn how to be in the present, appreciate the gifts that you do have in your life, even if they are small , like running water, and a roof over your head. See the patterns in your life that brought you to where you are, and learn to take a different path. Stay with a good diet, get lots of rest, exercise, get a hobby, be social, and don't comprimise any more. That should get you started, but you started with out us, didn't you?
