Is within us all. We have to dig thru the
garbage to find it. But it is there. So long as there is hope, we will never be
hopeless.

Agreed.

Having the fortitude to stand against life's constant barrage of attacks is the secret... sometimes every step forward DOES feel like it's countered by 2 or 3 steps back. That's what i'm experiencing right now.

An old saying that helps goes like this; "No matter how deep the water or how wide the lake, keep swimming; you'll eventually reach the other side."

...is the awakening feeling that I am on to a new thought process and improving my possibilities. Its reaching higher, looking deeper, crying harder, laughing longer, loving unconditionally and finding peace.

Workinonit,

I am currently reading a book called "7 habits of highly effective people" (Stephen Covey), and the very first one is a habit that's called "proactive". It's very enlightening and uplifting; it explains that the way you feel about a person or event is 100% totally up to you; whereas reactive people live thier lives controlled and as pawns to the world, proactive people take stimulus that happens to them and makes the "proactive" decision to decide how to feel about it (naturally opting to feel good or at least not offended or hurt), make notes and learn from the experience and move on.

What a wonderfully liberating concept; i'm working on it at the moment. It's challenging, but what a powerful weapon in your personal arsenal against life's bumps & tramas if you had the fortitude to experience the worst of events and say "I am not going to let that change me".

We all obviously have some hope for ourselves or we wouldn't be here looking for help and self improvement. We'd be lying in bed with the covers over our heads ( at the very least, ha ha).

InPain, I know just what you are talking about. I am very lucky that I was given this gift of a positive outlook from the beginning. There is nothing that is harder to take than listening to people who simply accept their lot in life and never move on.

There is a friend of mine who is like this and he feels sorry for me. I looked at him and said...I don't. Even though we are confronted with hurtful situations, what gets me through is saying..well, I won't feel this bad forever, may as well go through it. And, I am a creative problem solver. When someone says I can't....I find a way. Hope is certainly my friend.

Jul,

I totally agree with you on this and isn't it great to be a part of a group like this? Wish we could all get together for our own in-person CODA meeting!!
