Someone posted that her boyfriend told her it goes away after a while. This is not true. Always protect yourself from it. People can be tested for it. Have your partner get tested before having sex if they don't know. The likelihood of it spreading is lessened when there is no break-out, but there is still a chance. Especially in women, where it hides in the moist areas.

Not to scare anyone... and even if people knew who I was, I would not care if they knew I had it. 2/3 of the population have it. It can be painful, or it can just be itchy and annoying. Depends on where it is. I'm sure for men it's less annoying with fewer places to spread. It can spread though, so be careful. If you have a breakout, be sure to not share your towels.

I HATE HAVING THIS!! AND AM STILL ANGRY AT THE MAN WHO GAVE IT TO ME!! EVEN AFTER 8 YEARS.
