I've never posted anything before, but I've been searching around on the internet today trying to learn about CoDependency. My husband is a crack addict. In talking with couselors about "his" problem, I was told that I am "co-dependent". Today's the first day I've looked for info about it.

I've read through a bunch of the threads on here this morning. I wanted to throw something out there. Someone told me to read the book, "The Purpose Driven Life" about a year and a half ago. My husband and I both read it, and I AM SERIOUS, it literally changed our lives. We're still dealing with the addiction. But that book was awesome for me. I just wanted to know if any of you have read it? And if not, please please get it and read it.

Thanks! :o)

Sheri

Welcome, Sheri, and thanks for the feedback on the book. Who's the author?

I have been saying to myself for the last 6 months that I just don't know what my purpose is here - usually happens when I feel some major transition has to happen in my life and I don't know what to do about it (at that time I had recently turned 40, was layed off, broke up with a guy I was dating because he was an alcoholic and wasn't treating me well, wanted to find someone to share my life and have children with and am frustrated it hasn't happened yet, and am surrounded by people that are really going through there own rough time too, etc. ... ). I truly believe we have purpose everyday, but sometimes, when we get lost like that, it's hard to find the peace again and continue to do the daily "purposeful" tasks. At those times, I look towards God to help bring peace back into me, so that I can see more clearly again.

A friend of mine and I are going thru the book now. We haven't gotten very far, but I have seen changes and they are so awesome. I see my friend on such a fire as I have never seen her before. It is breath taking.

I recommend the book also and I haven't gotten to the end yet.

Thanks for offering it Sheri and glad you are here.

I'm glad to see some have read it! And I hope a lot of you will.

It's pretty neat to sit and read all of these comments, and know that there are people out there who are going through similar situations. I'm glad I found this group!
