I am having a problem right now with my mother. She is having a lot problems right now but it's all stuff that she has put on her self. She is always talking about suicide. I know she is capable of doind it she has tried before and I stopped her. I have always been able to make her laugh or smile or get her mind off of things, here altely though it's like nothing helps. I have no idea what to do! Today I spoke with her and it sounded like she was saying her last good-by, I asked if she was and she just started crying. She won't tell me what's wrong, she just keeps on telling me what a wonderful daughter I am, and how I have been there 100% for the last 20 yrs. I need some serious advice on what to say or what to do, can anyone help me out here.PLEASE!

It seems that your mom needs professional help have you tried getting her to therapy. I don't think you should wait too long before something regretable happens.

Good Luck

I have no idea where you are or anything but you may want to call your local mental health agency and see what the steps are for an emergency. When and if she's tries suicide you could possibly have her hospitalized and evaluated.

If she won't open up to you she may open up to a stranger. As hard as this will sound...if you have done all you can do...you have done all you can do. She is an adult and seems to be relying on you to "save" her. That is not your job...even as an adult child.

We can, at any age, have problems we need help with. Codependents, from the literature, do not seek help. We "can do it ourselves". she may be reaching a point where she cannot "save " herself. but you cannot save her either. She may be depressed. Try to get her to a dr. for a full medical and mental evaluation.

BUT...survival and h ealthyness for her is nNOT up to you. it is up to her..you can pave the way, give her a ride and deliver her to the therapist...she has to do the work.

You need to seek counseling as well and this HAS to be very rough on you and you don't need any guilt or blaming if something should happen to you.

God Bless

Davie...go to your search blank on your computer and type in genetic counseling and you will get some sites just for that.
Basically genentic counseling is when a man and a woman or each one alone goes to a specialist and has their genes checked for things that might be a problem if they want to have a baby or if they have had a child that is handicapped...some handicaps are caused by genetics..the genes that are our bodies "blueprints"

If parents have one child with a severe handicap they may not want to a) deal with another 2) subject another child to a hard life etc etc etc.
Any help ?
