For the last six hours I have been in stress overdrive dealing with the innocent Amish girls that were executed. Anytime a girl is abducted, r---d, and murdered, I react in a way that puts excess stress on my life.

I want to know if anyone else feels this way AND does anyone have any advice for me. These situations are escalating and I feel like I am going to explode or something; I don't know...

Once I hear something like this, I think I have panic attacks. Can they last all day? My heart breaks for these girls and I feel so much pain, then I get angry at these perpetrators.

Can anyone advise, please?

Hi
Just a few posts ago there is a thread about the Amish and I posted there too, you might want to read those. I too am having huge problems dealing with this. So much so I even brought it up with my counsellor. I'm going to play some music at orchestra practice tonight to try and send some beauty in the world (or a few good notes). That is how I try and deal a little. I don't try to make sense of a sensless act. I just try to pray for the families for them for strength to get through this. Know that those little girls are in the Fathers hands. Pray for the lives of those in the balance and for the nurses and the doctors looking after them. Look for the beauty in our own lives and love and protect those around us. Peace and love to you ggfred4.

I know it's a "hide my head in the sand" approach, but I just try not to dwell on all the bad that is in the world. Other than doing what I can to stay safe and keep my family safe, we have little control over what happens in the rest of the world. Tragedy happens to people everywhere, everyday. Outside of sending contributions if you can afford it and if the family is in need, there's not much else one can do. Hopefully, the community it supporting the grieving families.

If it is affecting you emotionally, then turn off the TV. Quit reading about it in the newspaper and on the internet. Focus on the good in life and tune out the bad. What good is it doing you to dwell on it? Who is it really helping? Just go about your business and move on. It's all anyone can do. It's not like these things can be predicted or prevented. And no one should live their life worrying about all the things that could happen.
