Its a damn stupid idea. I know cause I was stupid enough to do it and man am I paying for it now. So If you ever get the urge to touch a cookie that is still cooking to see if its done DONT cause chances are its not done yet

Owiee!!

Still it's better than dumping an entire pot of boiling water on your foot while draining pasta. I did that four years ago - I couldn't wear a shoe for three weeks, had to borrow a friend's crutches. I have a scar shaped like Australia on that foot now, I'm lucky that's the worst of it.

Ah... well I'm clueless on those. Toll house cookies are more my specialty.

ouch RW! What about that cooking tool that looks like a long needle with a loop on the end? You know the one I mean? If you are desperate, you can try a thick pin of some kind and poke it into the cookie and see if it comes out with dough stuck to it. This works with cakes and cupcakes, I have never tried it with cookies. It might work.

RW If you cook them at the time it says you can tell if they are done when the edges just start to turn brown. DON"T poke them unless you are using the end of a wooden spoon or something that will not burn like your finger. If bottoms are just browned then take them off and put them on the waxed paper or cooling rack. Cookies finish cookin as they cool a bit. when you break one after they are cool.

Good luck. I love shortbread cookies. Snickerdoodles are the best.
