.....as a daily regimen? I have talked to people who take a couple of "swigs" every morning and swear by it. I even went so far as to purchase some last Friday.....and there it still sits in my fridge - - -unopened.

From what I understand - this is like - the "miracle cure" for some. They take it and it gives them loads of energy, cuts the cholesterol, (spelling?) they lose weight etc.....just can't bring myself quite to drinking this cloudy (unpasteurized "mother" vinegar.)

Comments anyone????

The unopened bottle sits in my fridge as we speak.........

TruthB

I have heard that vinegar is great- and I have known people (at an old job) to add it to a glass of water and sip it all day. Vinegar is real good for you - you know? Like an apple a day...

Yes, I take it DAILY.

However... the taste is AWFUL!

Go to the health food store instead and buy the capsules.

For me it has:

1. Helped me lose 17 pounds

2. Stopped the arthritic pain in my knee and relieved some of the pain I have from time to time in my lower back

3. Increased my energy

It did drop my cholesterol a little bit, but, I also made some other changes there too, so I am not sure how much of an effect it really had on me regarding that aspect.

But, I DO recommend it.

Z.

Zinnie,

I was not aware of a capsule. I will check it out tomorrow as I am out and about and pass by a Health Food store.

Any particular brand that you use?

The brand I purchase is called "Herbal Healer" and I see on the bottle it is called "Apple Cider Vinegar Plus"

In addition to the Apple Cider Vinegar, it contains Vit. B-6, soy, glucomannon fiber, kelp and grapefruit fiber.

The bottle is 180 capsules, and I pay about $15.00 for the bottle. I take three capsules daily usually with lunch.

I hope that you have the same results that I have had. I also would like to mention that my husband takes them also, and since he started taking them he has noticed that his hips do not hurt him as much when the weather turns cold.

When I first started taking it, someone told me that it helped them with their acid reflux. About six or seven months ago, I relayed this to a friend of mine who suffers from acid reflux terribly. He has told me that he was able to stop taking his medication (that was very costly) as his acid reflux had stopped AND he too reported an increase in energy.

I hope that you will find that this works for you! Keep me posted.

Good luck,

Z.

I have heard of this, along with lots of other "cure it alls," like "3 almonds a day", and a "tablespoon of honey." I like almonds and honey a bit better than apple vinegar, but I guess apple vinegar is supposed to be really good for you. I may get myself some and try it! The energy, if provided, would be oh, so nice! Bangles

Thanks Zinnie,

I will try to find the "Herbal Healer" at my local Health Food store.

Also, along these lines - there is a wonderful cable channel: LIME - has anyone else ever heard of it?

There is an upcoming episode regarding "Homeopathy" which looks interesting. (Actually, I might just start another thread about this.)

Anyway, thanks for the info - have a great week-end.

HI Truth,

I am so anxious to hear how this does for you. This was just a brand that I ran across at my local Whole Foods (I am in Texas), so hopefully you will find it as well. If not, I'm sure you will find some that are just as good.

I had not heard of the LIME channel, but, I will certainly look into it. We have not crossed paths here much as I do not post very often - but, I am a cancer patient/survivor. I do believe that part of the reason I am still here is that I have not only followed the Dr. orders/plans, but I am more than willing to try homeopathic remedies as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the channel - I will check it out.

Much love,

Z.

Zinnie,

Do try and check it out. It's a pretty informative channel!

I am a cancer patient/survivor as well.

Had invasive squimicell cancer of the cervix years ago (in my 20's) and luckily had a great doctor at Emory University here in Atlanta whom was able to get it all out (luckily it did not spread to my lymph nodes as he was afraid that it would.) Had to have a radical hysterectomy though - not able to have children.

Weird thing about it was that I was not surprised in the least when orginally diagnosed.

You see, I was under tremendous stress. A double whammy as I found out that my sister at that time was admitted into the hospital for cirhossis of the liver - she had jaundice and her belly was really swollen and the fricking hospital and doctors would not tell me ANYTHING because of the nature of the condition - coupled with my ex father-in-law, whom I adored just up and died out of the blue from a heart attack - like within the same week!!!

I felt that my body was just way out whack - so the diagnosis didn't surprised me any at all.

I now have learned NOT to let other stuff get the best of me.

I simply can't risk it.

A very high price to pay for boundaries which should have been in place from the getgo.

Thanks for the post Zinnie.

It has to be apple cider vinegar with mother and it shouldn't be in capsule form only liquid to get the full benefit. It helps your digestive system also. Stops acid reflux for my husband. I take a tablespoon, sometimes two at night. I was putting it in water but I found it wasn't as effective that way. It's not the most pleasant taste but you get used to it in time. Mother is the sludge and that is the most benefical of all. You can buy it in most health food stores or GNC also has it.

I have a cousin who drinks the juice from pickles - and he never gets sick. He says that homemade is better, but will drink either!!

Finally looked in on this thread...

Interesting to hear the different ways people take it. My dad read about it somewhere around the early 1970's and proceeded to *religiously* take a spoonful, with honey, in water, every day for the next 30 years. I believe he was still taking it at the age of 92 before he had a fall that put him in a nursing home. (It was not the kind of nursing home where they would continue to provide that for him.)

But I never heard about the "drop 17 pounds" part!! I think it's time I tried it -- thanks for that motivation, Zinnie!!

And my hat is off to you cancer survivors. So glad you mobilized your healing powers so well!

Kroika,

Actually, the first I heard about losing weight by using the apple cider vinegar was an interview that one of the Dallas Mavericks & his wife gave on a local Dallas news station.

His grandmother told him to take it for the pain in his knees, and he was amazed at how much it helped him. He said that one of the "side effects" was that he lost some weight. After his wife gave birth, she was having trouble losing the last of her "baby weight" so she decided to try it. She was amazed at how the weight dropped off.

I admit, that I "hoped" it would help me with losing some excess weight, but, I was really more interested in it helping with my arthritic pain. I was very pleasantly surprised. I lost the 17 pounds in about a five to six week period, and I have kept the weight off.

I too heard that you needed to drink the stuff, and yes, I have also heard that it must be the "mother" or the sludgey stuff. I tried the one time to drink it and personally I could not get it down. That was what led me to try the capsules.

Good luck!

Z.
