I had this crazy virus and didn't even know it. I took the antibiotics and still feel pains at times in my guts. Do I need a second round of meds? What can anyone tell me on this viris? Is it contagious? The doc didn't tell me much about it.

Check out this site. I think you'll find your answers there.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medline.....000229.htm

If not, type in the name in search and info will come up.

My daughter had H-Pylori last year. It actually can only be diagnosed by a stomach Biopsy. She was 2 and she was sick for months. After an intestinal illness like that you can be succeptible to having stomachaches from your stomach being tender and irritated by different foods. My daughter developed a temporsry lactose intolerence as a result.

It is spread mostly by fecal matter I believe. It was believed my daughter caught it by swimming in contaminated water at the beach.

Hope that helps and hope you feel better

H pylori is a bacteria and the main cause of stomach ulcers. I had a bout several yrs ago. Many docs are unfamiliar with it and in my case their initial cure was worst than the problem. It really should be treated by a specialists in GI problems. After months of pain and agony I got the correct treatment. If your still in pain you may still have it. See a specialist.

My friend has had H Pylori for AGES. She has been on rounds and rounds of meds to deal with it. her situation is a little more complicated because she has crohn's as well, but it appears that this bacteria is a tough one to get rid of. If you are feeling unewell, definitely go for additional treatment!

I dont' know how well this will work, but I will tell you that this friend is now seeing a hoeopath and doing a 4 months cleanse to get rid of both the h pylori and massive candida due to the antibiotics that she has been taking for the bacterial infection. I just thought I'd mention that as an assitional course of action should you have as much trouble as she has had.

I hope you feel well very soon!

I have suffered with this for almost 3 years now. The specialists have tried every kind of antibiotic known to man to try and get rid of it. Doctors don't know a whole lot about this virus, they have some theory on how it is contracted but no definate conclusions. About 2-3 times a year it flares up and I go through about a week living off of ensure and slim fast because it hurts too bad to eat. After the doctors put me on several treatment plans with no success they finally diagnose me as a carrier (in other words I was born with it and will probably never get rid of it.) They told me they don't believe that it is a contagious thing just something I'm going to have to live with. Since the pills weren't doing anygood they actually seemed to make it worse now I just suffer through it for a week or two until it dies back down and then I go on with my normal life.

Hi Emt!

Yeeeouch! Never had this, but I had a couple bouts with diverticulosis last year and it like to have killed me. Such pain and discomfort as I'd never known.

The culprit? Sunflower seeds. Lawdy, I'm never eating them again. I must have had the tip of on prick my colon somewhere and start and infection. WHAT an infection. Amazing what the right antibiotic can do.

I really feel for you. Do you have any sense of when these attacks are going to start?

Well good news, I had H-pylori maybe several years ago and I didn't know that I had it. For several years my stomach would hurt and it would hurt after I eat. Everyone in our family has ulcers or they thought. I was the first with h-pylori virus. My doctor was out so I had to see another doctor that was helping him. She drew blood and that is when she found it. I had to take eight pills a day. Four in the morning and four in the afternoon until the medicine was gone. I notify my other family members and they laugh at me because I told them that I had it and they didn't know what I was talking about. These are the same people with ulcers and they had ulcers for a long time. Well each family member went to the doctor and told them what was going on with me and lo and behold they also had it. Those who laugh had to take more pills then I did. Some had to take 10 pills a day, some had to take 12 pills a day. With all of the pills that are taken they all work together. It has been a while but I haven't had a problems anymore and thank god!

Wow, I hope those of you afflicted by this find some relief. I have irritable bowel syndrome and it can really hurt sometimes, it's worse if I haven't been drinking water constantly like I should (especially living in a drier climate). I also have reproductive problems that aggravate it. So I don't know your exact pain but in a way I can relate.
