Hi All,

One of my good friends is due her first baby today.

She's having trouble with names though. I said I'd write a list to give her some ideas!

For a girl, she wants something, pretty and uncommon but not to "way out there"

For a boy, something uncommon but still masculine so he won't get teased at school.

so...c'mon, your favourite boy and girl names:

I'll give me you two youngest's names.

I have a daughter named Regan. Pronounced just like Megan but with an R - like as in Ronald Reagan.

I love her name, it's pretty and it's unique but as you said - not too out there.

And my son is Dane. It's masculine, it's different and it's unique. I think it makes him sound important.

People always comment on their names.

Hope it helps.

I always wanted to name my first girl 'Myriad'. It means 'tens of thousands of' and is the most commonly misused word in the english language...Of course my ex wasn't a fan as it was an inside joke with me and another ex, but ah the names that could have been...

Let's see. Morgan is a pretty name, as is Gretta, neither of them too terribly strange, just a little special. THere's also Natasha, Antonia, and Liza...

Boys...I have a friend who named her son Xavior, but I think that's a bit out there...honestly I never met a Timothy I didn't like, or a Joseph for that matter. I met a man named Handsome one time...Tall, Jamaican, long flowing dreads and amazing lips...Like an idiot, when he told me his name was Handsom I said "well, of course it is". Guys named Patric are usually pretty nice too...

This IS fun! SOrry, I'll step back now and let you all play too...maybe I'll go outside and name every ant I see!

What about something old fashioned but classy, like Sophia or Olivia or Virginia?

Vivien

Vivian...

I get mixed up with which one is the female and which the male spellings. Things like that are a consideration.

i personally love the name Lauren (as in Ralph Lauren) for a girl. sounds expensive, upper scale, and loves to shop 🙂

Girl, Asha (aa-zha)

Sophie is really cute too and will be very popular when this child comes of age.

I have always liked
Kailani..

it's my daughters middle name. my husband says its "too out there" for a first name but what do YOU think?

for a boy?
hmm.. drawing a blank there

I really like Charles and Joseph.. but those are run of the mill.. I like them because they are family names 7 charles's and 10 josephs in my family! (back to ggg grandfathers)
