Hi everyone! Just thought I'd share some lyrics to a song with you. Its a country song that was one of those ones that is on the tape/CD, but never makes it to the radio. Anyways, it has helped through some tough times. There has been many occasions where I could be seen cruising in my car singing at the top of my lungs until I finally started to believe the words for myself. Its helped me through a break-up and through a severe depressiona and it keeps on making me feel good. It wouldn't say its the most powerful song, but the words are cool. Its called "I'm Alright." Here goes:

I'm alright and I'm ok
And I'll live to fight for another day.
'Cause I've got hope and that's enough,
until I find the strength to love.

Like a weary fighter, knocked off his feet
I couldn't even feel my own heart beat
But I've got Faith to lift me up,
until I find the strength to love.

I know down deep there's a spark inside this broken heart of mine.
I'LL BE AS STRONG AS BEFORE.
ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME!

What's done is done and I'LL RISE ABOVE
and I will find the strength to love.

Love to all! You guys have been an inspiration!

You are quite the inspiration yourself....a song in motion...is what you are. (smile) Rising above isn't about arriving at a destination - it's about "being" and learning to be present in the moment - you're learning that one - every day.

Getting back up again, even after getting knocked down or just getting weak and tired - isn't being defeated...not by a long shot. Any martial artist will tell you that one. That's what you call "heart" and any warrior without it - will never be - a warrior at all.

You just realize that whatever knocked you down or tired you - is a challenge for you to overcome and to learn from. You turn around and instead of cussing it - you say thank you, thank you very much - because after I learn from this round - I'll meet you again down the road and I'll be more of a "worthy" opponent. (smile)

The Dixie Chicks are awesome! I also love their song "Tonight, the Heartache's On Me!"

Blondie--I was reading one of the other posts where you were talking about Janis Joplin. I am only familiar with maybe two of her songs, but really like them. Can you recommend a good CD of hers to start with? Thanks!

George Strait's I'm Carrying Your Love with Me all the way to Tennessee.....Keep holding on........ When I was growing up I use to write poetry to help me through the rough spots and would put those words to music I will see if I can find some of those poems and post them. But the important thing to remember is be true to yourself. Just look how many new friends you have met. God has a plan for all of us and it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be easy and pain free but we all have something to offer and this website is proof. Hang tough All

Peter Gabriel - Us

I listen to this song and it reminds me of this site, 🙂

"Don't Give Up"

in this proud land we grew up strong
we were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

no fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I've changed my face, I've changed my name
but no one wants you when you lose

don't give up
'cos you have friends
don't give up
you're not beaten yet
don't give up
I know you can make it good

though I saw it all around
never thought I could be affected
thought that we'd be the last to go
it is so strange the way things turn

drove the night toward my home
the place that I was born, on the lakeside
as daylight broke, I saw the earth
the trees had burned down to the ground

don't give up
you still have us
don't give up
we don't need much of anything
don't give up
'cause somewhere there's a place
where we belong

rest your head
you worry too much
it's going to be alright
when times get rough
you can fall back on us
don't give up
please don't give up

'got to walk out of here
I can't take anymore
going to stand on that bridge
keep my eyes down below
whatever may come
and whatever may go
that river's flowing
that river's flowing

moved on to another town
tried hard to settle down
for every job, so many men
so many men no-one needs

don't give up
'cause you have friends
don't give up
you're not the only one
don't give up
no reason to be ashamed
don't give up
you still have us
don't give up now
we're proud of who you are
don't give up
you know it's never been easy
don't give up
'cause I believe there's the a place
there's a place where we belong
