Hi all, I am an inspirational poet and I thought I'd share this poem with you all. Please give me your honest opinion.

For every storm that comes
With its howling, heavy winds
Lord I dare not succumb
But beseech your peace within.

Watch over me dear master
As the rain pours down fierce
Help me to stand up faster
When Satan comes to pierce.

In every storm, Oh great God
Let me not not ever be afraid
Help me to smile, endure, and nod
Even when the clouds block my way.

When the storm of life may rage
Lord, in this one thing will I confide
The storm is not greater than thy grace
And your preseence it cannot hide

....and to continue on with this...

In the storm, help me to be the willow that bends and is yielding and pliable instead of the heavy prideful oak that will be tipped over in high winds.

Help me to understand deeply that while I am beside you - I am within the eye and that when I am in that very dark place - I am underneath your wing, closest to your heart.

Teach me to acknowledge the howling and the debri that flies by me at tremendous speed but to be more interested instead in the still, small voice...

Guide my blinded eyes of fear to a place where - I will only see through your insight and if I do not listen - keep me blinded in order that I might - receive sight.

And make the colors of your rainbow so vibrant that I will find new colors within it every time I look at it and become reminded that storms strip us of everything in order that we may not become too comfortable standing still....because new life is always avaiable - in you and demands us to....take action.

When the storms of life come my way - my I stand tall and erect, knowing because of storms past - that the only reason I have survived well - is because I know the wind of the Holy Spirit and that this - is the most powerful force on earth and anywhere else.

(smile)

Thanx every1 for your replies and encouragements. Blondie, I'm glad that it served as an inspiration to you, that definitely was my point :o) Ladeska, your additions were incredible are you a poet too? I just published my first book "WIngs of Steel" my second one, a friend is illustrating (it's a children's book) and my third book of poetry I'm working on is called "From Sorrow's Stream." I think we should keep this post as one where we all post our poetry or quotes and keep it up :o) Just a thought, what do y'all think?

Yes, I am a poet/writer. Haven't published anything yet though. Still in that phase of "almost jumping". (smile) Good for you on your achievements! Quite impressive. YOU GO!! You express yourself very well!

That would be awesome to have a Poetry Notebook here! I like it!

Hi, me again, glad every1 loves the idea. Here's another poem by me, hope you like it. Ladeska, feel free to add on :o)

Upon his birth, was joy and mirth.
Love everywhere, in the world so fair
A spirit so light, with memories bright
In a wonderful place, with a smiling face.

Did he understand, life dealt bad hands?
He didn't know, in the world was sorrow.
He wanted perfection, but got rejection.

Where's his light spirit? You wanna hear it?
It's no longer light. This place ain't bright.
Now he's a spirit scarred. His life is so hard.
He was rejected and now he's severely affected.

He's filled with woe, in the depths of sorrow.
A spirit scarred bad. Oh the poor lad.
He's scarred for life. That ain't right.
Why did they do it? Now he gotta work thru it.

A spirit scarred. Now, life is hard.
But it's okay, God'll show you the way
Scarred spirit, it's okay I say
Your scars are gonna heal one day.

Are you speaking of Christ in this poem, or are you talking about just a person in general?

Blondie,

That was a nice poem, I liked it :o) Ladeska, this poem is about a child in general. Well, really me. I remember in my early days, a wonderful life. Loving parents, everything good, etc. But as I grew up, I quickly learned the world was filled with pain as I was forced to suffer at the hands of various different tormentors at different times in my life. My parents always loved me but even their love couldn't shield me from reality.

Life's End

As I lie here in my bed,
the cold bare walls enclose me.
The picture window frames the gloominess outside.
I can feel the drizzle in my bones.

An entity surrounded by glory,
it's an angel waiting for death.
A chilling draft sweeps across this place,
taking with it my spirit and my soul.

Below me I see my body,
left there lifeless.
The lonley room spins away from me
as I float away into eternity.

I have a web site with a few of my poems if anyone is interested it is geocities.com/rmcgavran

Gypsygirl,

Enjoyed the read, that was phenomenal! I will be going to your site to read your poetry. Damaged, so sorry for what you went through but be encouraged that God will heal your pain. Here's a quote that I found on the internet about life.

~ Life consists not in holding good cards but in playing those you hold well~ Josh Billings

PgLova - Didn't want to say - but I figured it was about you....(sigh) I can relate to that one. You know, as harsh as this sounds, I really have quite the different mindset now that I am older. A more realistic one and that is - the base nature of mankind is pretty sick. Narcissistic, the minute we pop out of the womb. And if we have parents that mold us, guide us and our will goes along with that good influence and makes right choices - we overcome it to a great degree on a continual day to day basis.

And - I obsolutely believe that people can be born in the worst of situations and still strive hard enough because of that will (without much else in a physical realm around them helping them along)and can also turn into quite a worthwhile human being.

But - that varies drastically from what I thought when I was young. I looked at the glass half full as mankind goes - basically good and very few are of an evil nature.

Hm,m,m....wish I could say I still believe that because I don't. Very few - really strive against their base nature... And that especially excludes the ones who go to great efforts to "look good and holy". These people are greater in number and are harder to detect than I ever imagined. Makes me understand a great many things now - that Jesus said and his whole demeanor when he faced the Pharisees. I can just almost see His face....and understand the great quietness that must have fallen on Him at times - when He just looked at us and "knew" our inner workings and yet - still loved us.

I guess I just better understand the state of our human condition and there's something inside me that grieves for us like I never did before. Guess I realize a little inkling more - His suffering.

The creation (us) had the ability to choose - and once the choice was made wrongly - sin was set into motion like the Second Law of Thermodynamics and our spiritual DNA was changed forever...unless God stepped in and gave us another choice...that would change that DNA forever by the mingling of His perfect life-giving blood - with ours. The only antibiotic for sin.

I sincerely believe with all my heart that it matters not - what we are taught or not taught - that deep within us is an innate knowledge that bears witness to Truth because we came from Truth originally, so we can't - not recognize it. It doesn't matter if we are blind or deaf, this religion or that culture, or have been locked up in a room all our lives. The very God who made us - will enter that space at some point and we will "know". We are accountable only for that amount of light that is given and whether we accept it or reject it. God is a merciful God and if someone doesn't get up off their lazy duff and travel into the jungle of Timbuck-wherever and hand them a tract, um no....they aren't going to hell everlasting... Cracks me up when the religious ones preach this.

And - when that time of acknowleging truth comes along and we choose for the fake brand or request the fake brand instead....then the deception is given to us and it deceives us completely...but, we asked for it initially. Is truth always in words as in the bible? No, it isn't. Some people die without ever reading a bible and God is not unfair or unjust. Their are many languages to our heart and soul. God knows them all, each and every one and especially knows - our particular one that is like - no one else's. Kind of makes us without excuse when we stand before Him, doesn't it?

He doesn't need us to do anything. He wants us to be "a part" of it though. He wants us to live our lives - in such a way that we reflect His light. Then if words are said at some point - "they hold water". That means that alot of preachers and evangelists should sit down and shut up.

You, my friend - acknowledged and followed the light that was given to you, despite your circumstances...and He has the power to lift you up and out and to walk you through whatever fire or storm, in spite of what you were born into. This world isn't pretty all the time, but in as much as there is alot of evil...one grain of mustard seed packs a punch that could set into motion 200,000 universes. (smile) Geez, I preached again.... Where is that off button...?

Ladeska,

That is an interesting point of view, but you are correct, I'm just a tad younger :o) but the younger you are the less you see eye to eye with those older. Gypsy, that poetry was great, I've just been to your website. Excellent job! Here's the quote for the day, this is one that I authored.

~ On the judgment day, the saved will experience a great morning and the sinners a great mouring ~

Wowwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!1 This is so neat! Can I put my poem on here too? Here it is:

Like a ship with no sail

Like a forest with one tree

My fading heart doth fail

I long from bondage to be free

What can I do the storm's hither?

Shall I retreat with a cold shiver?

I can never know, which way to turn

As I go along, I'll simply learn.

Well, what did u think?
