I volunteered at a soup kitchen for the homeless last night. There was a young girl who didn't look 18 with 3 children. She has a long tortured past and a very sad face. However, she was looking for something in her bible to help her in some way and I talked to her for awhile. Finally, she came over to me all excited and said I found it! What I read almost brought me to tears. The scripture she read to me was "an anxious heart wears a man down" She then gave a big smile and hugged me. Guess what. I have been being treated for anxiety for over 1 year. Was the scripture for her or for me. I left that place with a new lease on life. No matter how tough it may get, I still in no way have it as hard as these people. They were not bums. They were people who lost jobs due to downsizing, etc. and can't live and raise a family on minimum wage. How close are we from that. In my area there are 900 homeless people and 300 of them sleep on the streets. Of course the city denies that that is true. Not surprising to me. Getting involved and reaching out to others does so much more for you than it does for them.

God Bless You All!

snookers, thanks for sharing...it sounds like this girl was sending a message to herself and to you...and its so true "an anxious heart wears a man down". Seems like your getting
involved helped yourself also.

snookers,

Reaching out to help other people is a good idea. It's good that you have a very big heart for those people in need. On behalf of AAC, we all salute you for your generosity and kind deeds. Thank you and keep it up!
