Hi all,
I've really enjoyed snooping around here, first time visit. It seems like a safe place to be and share...so here goes...

I chose the nickname "road less traveled", because its the road to self-awareness, the most difficult road we will ever walk, the road most of us avoid taking until we've traveled so many other roads and realize they all lead us back to that road less traveled, to self-awareness, to self-love. The wonderful thing about this road, after you walk it, is that all other roads will then open up to you, and you will know how to walk on them, minimizing pain and maximizing joy in our journey through life.

What have I learned on that road?

*That I am capable of loving and being responsible for myself first, so that I can truly love others.

*I am capable because that is how God created me.

*My life is my choice, to create it to be what I want it to be, Joyful!

* Forgiveness of self, for any past decisions (that harmed me) is the beginning of change, and the beginning of self-trust.

* Accepting and surrending to whomever or whatever is before you, IS WHAT IT IS, and I can't change ANYTHING outside of myself.

* Feeling the power of self-control, creating a new self, the person you were meant to be, the person you always dreamed of being.

..........and of course, many more things that are needing to be learned.....always growing.

Some things I'm working on:

--weak motivation to get healthier physically.

--Living with the reality that my husband doesn't want to travel that road at this time. Accepting where he is and letting go, letting him take responsibility for his own happiness......or misery.

--Learning to set personal goals, and sticking with them.

Thanks for any feedback,

Thanks for listening,
Happy trails to you all,
RLT

I don't have much time at the moment as I am on my way out but I just wanted to welcome you and thank you for sharing your insight.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope to talk to you soon.

Take care,

RLT - Welcome to this site where you will find love, wisdom and support.

Let me congratulate you for your courage and strength for finding the right road - i.e. the road less traveled. I agree with you that it is not very popular road. Many folks try it at 1st, get weary and scared and quit. Some even too scared to even try it out.

Granted, it's a scary road, no one promised us it won't. However, thru our unconditional love and continuous support and encouragement of each other, we will persist and persevere in this raod till the end.

I strongly believe it's worth of every effort we undertake. We are taking care of oursleves and showing love to ourselves. By contrast, a co-dep relationship is showing just the opposite of this - that we don't love ourselves.

Let's keep cheering one another on!!!

Blessings, Ras~

rlt, I was here some time ago and coming back because I found so many things in common with your reflections and the space where you are now. I have been travelling the road that takes us to our own centers and discoveries and found that I could not be in charge of making my husband happy after 33 years of marriage. I have moments of great anguish because this means being alone for the first time in my life ( I met my hsubadn when I was 18)but must go on on my own because he does not want to venture to a better life of mutual respect for ourselves and our individualities, and shared love. Once the awareness takes place, there is not coming back to dependency and strange games. Good luck on this road and stay centered.

welcome road less traveled,

That seems to be more then half the battle, knowing where you want to go in life and what road you need to travel in order to get there.
Good for you, I hope you continue on the road that works best for you.
Glad you found us, hope you stick around.
