feeling really down and I don't know why, lonely and lethargic.

Lately I have zero energy. I mean it's hard for me to even walk up a flight of stairs or down the street. It's not medical, my blood tests fine. It's depression.

I've been trying to work out a few times a week to see if that helps, the effects are short lived so far but I will keep on with it.

I've joined things, taken classes... nothing worked yet, but I am open to new things still. So if something new occurs to me, I try it, what's more I seek things out. For reasons of anonymity, I don't want to get too specific about what and where... but I am trying. I also work full time with an hour commute each way so it's not easy to find things that fit my schedule.

Sometimes I don't want to wake up in the morning. I'm lonely. I'm distracted, I can't concentrate on things I enjoy. One thing I do is get together with friends for afternoons or evenings to talk and it seems pleasant during those times. But not enough to fill the void I am feeling. I feel sick.

There are a lot of books I have... they all sound good to me, but when it comes down to it... I can't apply these good works to my life yet.

I did well with 12 steps and averted destroying my life completely. Why can't I maintain day to day and smell the roses?

Life is passing me by, I just want to enjoy it... sometimes I just don't want to go on. But I am "over" the self destruction, suicide attempt thing. I just want to curl up and stop trying so hard. That's all I do is TRY TRY TRY and I don't know about the returns. It's not enough.

What is the weather like where you are? If the days a re more dreary than sunny, this could greatly increase your depression. Have you considered taking vitamin d (2-3 pills) and flax seed oil on a daily basis? Also, have you had your thyroid checked. This was the cause of all things for me. Had to push to get a complete test done, and it has been like a new world for me since I got my thyroid hormone pill.

Hi Ella,

I realize you are feeling down right now and having me point out the good stuff in your life is only meant to help. But I also have been there where someone has done that to me when I'm down and it sometimes just pisses me off. I don't want to do that, but I also want to share that I see your accomplishments and dedication and strength to fight off your depression and want to recognize that you have done and continue to do wonderful things with your life.

Yes, getting up in the morning is hard... but you DO it. Yes, continuing to try with minimal results is discouraging.... but you continue to try. You have great inner strength and resolve and you always inspire me to keep trying in my own life.

It's great to hear that you are exercising regularly and getting involved in different activities and groups. It sounds like you have made great progress in this and plan to continue to do positive things in your life.

You have come a long way in the years I've known you here. You are an amazing person and things will get better for you.

Would you like to join me at the Coffeehouse for a nice hot cup of coffee?

MZRELLA,
one thing i d suggest is to try not to think about how life is passing you by.

Depression is a phase albeit a terrible one, i have gone through most of what you have described. You are not alone. others are and have been were you are.

You can get better and the peas you ll have will more than make up for the pain you feel now. Be patient with youurself. Give yourself time as you work on trying to get better.

you are loved.

I would like to suggest not only upping your vit D3 intake, but also have a complete thyroid panel as well as testing for adrenal fatigue. Not all physician's order a complete thyroid panel or vit D testing. Virtually none check for adrenal fatigue. Best to rule out physical ailments.

Thank you all for your advice. I am going to the doctor next monday. As far as I know, she checks thyroid and kidneys. I am on a Thyroid medication and get blood work regularly so that was a question.

I'm just so tired and hopeless.

Yes, the weather here sucks. Very cold, my commute makes me miserable. So do my job and related activities.

All I want to do is sleep.
